NEPSE Sees Modest Gain Despite Decrease in Trading Volume

On Wednesday, the NEPSE index closed with a modest increase. In contrast to Tuesday's decline, the index saw a moderate rise today. The NEPSE index increased by 5.38 points, reaching 2731.89 points. The Sensitive Index dropped by 0.19 points, while the Float Index rose by 0.45 points, and the Sensitive Float Index increased by 0.02 points.
Despite the increase in the index, the total turnover decreased. On Tuesday, the market saw a share trading worth NPR 14.16 billion, but today, there was a trading volume of 234,618,000 shares worth NPR 11.49 billion in 121,992 trades.
Two stocks saw positive circuit-level trading today—Corporate Development Bank and Aankhu Khola Hydropower Company. Additionally, Mithila Microfinance's share price increased by 9.5%, while shares of People's Power and Budhhabhumi Nepal Hydropower Company rose by more than 9%. On the other hand, the value of the Goodwill Finance Limited Debenture 2083 decreased by 8.07%, which was the highest drop of the day.
In terms of turnover, Aankhu Khola Hydropower Company led the day with shares worth NPR 83.57 million traded. Radhi Electricity Company and SY Panel Nepal followed, with turnovers exceeding NPR 54 million and nearly NPR 50 million, respectively.
Out of 13 subgroups, 8 showed an increase in their indices, while 5 subgroups saw a decline. The highest gain was in the Finance subgroup, which increased by 1.24%. Subgroups such as Banking, Investment, Life Insurance, Microfinance, and Non-Life Insurance saw a slight decline in their indices.
