NEPSE Slips Below 2600 Points Again; Trading Volume Rises to Rs. 5.41 Billion

The NEPSE index once again fell below the 2600 mark on Thursday, the final trading day of the week. Earlier in the week, the index had dipped below 2600 on Tuesday, rebounded above the level on Wednesday, but again closed lower today. The NEPSE dropped by 11.29 points to close at 2596.12, while the Sensitive Index fell by 2.08 points, the Float Index by 0.81 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 0.76 points.

Despite the decline, market turnover increased compared to the previous session. A total of 10.86 million shares of 320 companies were traded through 50,437 transactions, amounting to Rs. 5.41 billion — higher than Wednesday’s Rs. 4.68 billion.

Two hydropower stocks — Darmakhola Hydropower and Mabilung Energy — hit the positive circuit level. Mabilung had begun trading on Tuesday, while Darmakhola started today. Meanwhile, Upakar Laghubitta and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta surged more than 8%, whereas Sampada Laghubitta declined by the maximum 10%, becoming the top loser of the day.

Shivam Cement led the market in turnover with Rs. 309.1 million worth of shares traded. Radhi Hydropower followed with more than Rs. 300 million in transactions, while Himalayan Distillery saw over Rs. 270 million worth of shares traded. Out of 13 sectoral indices, only two — Manufacturing & Processing and Mutual Fund — recorded gains, while 11 others declined, though all by less than 1%.
