नवनियुक्त प्रधानमन्त्री सुशीला कार्कीले पद तथा गोपनीयताको शपथ ग्रहण गरेकी छन्। पूर्वप्रधानन्यायाधीशसमेत रहेकी कार्कीलाई राष्ट्रपति रामचन्द्र पौडेलले शपथ खुवाएका हुन्।
राष्ट्रपति पौडेलको शुभकामना
शपथ समारोहका क्रममा राष्ट्रपति पौडेलले नवनियुक्त प्रधानमन्त्री कार्कीलाई देशको स्थायित्वका लागि सफलताको शुभकामना दिँदै भने, “ल सफल हुनुस्, देश बचाउनस्।” जवाफमा कार्कीले छोटकरीमा “धन्यवाद” मात्र दिएकी थिइन्।
शपथ समारोहमा उपस्थिति
राष्ट्रपति भवन शीतल निवासमा आयोजित विशेष समारोहमा उपराष्ट्रपति रामसहाय प्रसाद यादव, प्रधानन्यायाधीश प्रकाशमान सिंह राउत, पूर्वप्रधानमन्त्री डा. बाबुराम भट्टराई, मुख्यसचिव, कूटनीतिक नियोगका पदाधिकारीसहित उच्च व्यक्तित्वहरूको उपस्थिती थियो।
तर, पूर्वप्रधानमन्त्रीहरू केपी शर्मा ओली, प्रचण्ड, शेरबहादुर देउवा, माधवकुमार नेपाल र झलनाथ खनाल भने समारोहमा देखिएनन्।
मन्त्रिपरिषद् गठनमा ढिलाइ
यसअघि तीन सदस्यीय मन्त्रिपरिषद् बन्ने चर्चा भए पनि जेन–जी आन्दोलनको तर्फबाट नाममा सहमति हुन नसकेकाले तत्काल मन्त्रीहरू नियुक्त नभएको बताइएको छ। हाललाई सबै मन्त्रालयको जिम्मेवारी प्रधानमन्त्री कार्कीले नै सम्हाल्ने व्यवस्था गरिएको छ।
निर्वाचनको म्यान्डेट
राष्ट्रपति पौडेलले संविधानको धारा ६१ अनुसार कार्कीलाई प्रधानमन्त्री नियुक्त गर्दै ६ महिनाभित्र प्रतिनिधिसभा निर्वाचन गर्ने स्पष्ट म्यान्डेट दिएका छन्।
नियुक्ति पत्रमा भनिएको छ– “नेपालको संविधान बमोजिम राष्ट्रपतिमा अन्तर्निहित संवैधानिक अधिकार प्रयोग गरी नेपालको संविधानको पालना र संरक्षण एवम् राष्ट्रिय एकताको प्रवर्द्धन गर्न आवश्यक भएकोले ६ महिनाभित्र प्रतिनिधिसभा निर्वाचन गर्नेगरी सुशीला कार्कीलाई अन्तरिम सरकारको प्रधानमन्त्री नियुक्त गरिएको छ।”
शपथग्रहणसँगै सुशीला कार्की मुलुकको अन्तरिम सरकारको पहिलो महिला प्रधानमन्त्री बनेकी छिन्।
Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has taken the oath of office and secrecy. Formerly the first female Chief Justice of Nepal, Karki was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel at the Presidential Palace, Sheetal Niwas.
President Paudel’s Remarks
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Paudel extended his best wishes to the new Prime Minister, saying: “May you succeed, may you save the country.” In response, Karki simply expressed her gratitude, saying “Thank you.”

The special ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the Chief Secretary, members of the diplomatic corps, and other high-ranking officials.
However, former prime ministers KP Sharma Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), Sher Bahadur Deuba, Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Jhala Nath Khanal were notably absent.
Delay in Cabinet Formation
Although there was earlier speculation about forming a three-member Cabinet, sources confirmed that no agreement had yet been reached within the Gen-Z faction, which has delayed ministerial appointments. For now, all ministries will remain under the direct responsibility of Prime Minister Karki herself.
Mandate to Hold Elections
Appointing Karki under Article 61 of the Constitution, President Paudel has given her a clear mandate to conduct parliamentary elections within six months.
The appointment letter stated: “Exercising constitutional authority vested in the President to safeguard the Constitution and promote national unity, Sushila Karki has been appointed as Prime Minister of the interim government with the mandate to conduct House of Representatives elections within six months.”
With this swearing-in, Sushila Karki has become the first woman to lead Nepal’s interim government as Prime Minister.
