मध्यपूर्व तनावपछि कच्चा तेल महँगियो, नेपालमा पेट्रोल–डिजेलको मूल्य बढ्ने चिन्ताOil Prices Surge Amid Middle East Tensions, Concerns Rise Over Fuel Price Hike in Nepal
काठमाडौं । अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा इजरायल–अमेरिकाले इरानमाथि गरेको आक्रमणपछि मध्यपूर्व क्षेत्रमा तनाव बढ्दै जाँदा कच्चा तेलको मूल्य तीव्र रूपमा बढेको छ। विश्व बजारमा ब्रेन्ट कच्चा तेलको मूल्य प्रति ब्यारेल झन्डै ८० अमेरिकी डलरसम्म पुगेको छ भने अमेरिकी कच्चा तेल फ्युचर्स पनि उल्लेख्य रूपमा बढेको छ। विश्व बजारमा तेलको मूल्य बढेपछि नेपालमा पेट्रोल र डिजेलको मूल्य बढ्ने सम्भावनाबारे चासो बढेको छ, किनभने नेपाल पूर्ण रूपमा भारतबाट आयात गरिने पेट्रोलियम पदार्थमा निर्भर छ। भारतले आफ्नो कच्चा तेलको करिब ८८ प्रतिशत आवश्यकता आयातमार्फत पूरा गर्ने भएकाले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय मूल्य वृद्धिले भारतको आयात खर्च र मुद्रास्फीतिमा असर पार्न सक्छ, जसको प्रत्यक्ष प्रभाव नेपालमा पनि पर्ने सम्भावना हुन्छ। यद्यपि भारतीय बजारमा पेट्रोल र डिजेलको खुद्रा मूल्य सन् २०२२ अप्रिलयता स्थिर राखिएको छ र सरकारी तेल कम्पनीहरूले मूल्य उतारचढावलाई नाफा–घाटामार्फत सन्तुलन गर्ने नीति अपनाएका छन्। मध्यपूर्वको तनाव थप चर्किएर होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्यमा अवरोध आएमा तेल ढुवानी लागत बढ्ने र दीर्घकालीन रूपमा इन्धन मूल्यमा दबाब पर्ने जोखिम रहेको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ।
Kathmandu — Global crude oil prices have surged sharply following military strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude prices have climbed close to USD 80 per barrel, while U.S. crude futures also recorded a significant increase. The rise in global oil prices has raised concerns about a possible increase in petrol and diesel prices in Nepal, which is fully dependent on petroleum imports from India. Since India imports nearly 88 percent of its crude oil demand, higher international prices could increase its import costs and inflationary pressure, indirectly affecting Nepal’s fuel pricing. However, according to reports, retail fuel prices in India are unlikely to rise immediately, as the government maintains a balancing policy allowing oil marketing companies to absorb fluctuations through profits and losses. Indian retail fuel prices have remained unchanged since April 2022 despite global volatility. Analysts warn that if Middle East tensions worsen and disruptions occur in the Strait of Hormuz — a critical global energy shipping route — transportation, insurance, and logistics costs could increase, potentially putting long-term upward pressure on fuel prices in the region, including Nepal.
