Public Holiday Across Nepal Today for Tamu Lhosar Celebration; Banks and Stock Market Closed

Kathmandu – The government has declared a public holiday across the country today, Monday, on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar. As a result, government offices, banks, financial institutions, the stock market, and educational institutions will remain closed.

Tamu Lhosar is a major festival of the Gurung community, celebrated every year on the last day of the Nepali month of Poush. It marks the beginning of a new year in the Gurung calendar, with festivities including cultural programs, traditional dances, and gatherings.

Due to the public holiday, banking services and the stock market will also remain closed today. Regular operations for these institutions and offices will resume from Tuesday onwards.

The government has acknowledged the cultural and social significance of Tamu Lhosar by announcing this public holiday, aiming to promote respect and harmony among Nepal’s diverse cultural communities.
