काठमाडौं — नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकका गभर्नर प्रा. डा. विश्वनाथ पौडेलले दक्षिण एसियाली मुलुकबीच डिजिटल भुक्तानी प्रणाली विस्तार र सीमापार भुक्तानीलाई सहज बनाउन क्षेत्रीय सहकार्य आवश्यक रहेको बताएका छन्।
भुटानको पारोमा आयोजित ४९औँ सार्कफाइनान्स गभर्नर्स ग्रुप बैठक तथा सिम्पोजियममा सहभागी हुँदै गभर्नर पौडेलले नेपालमा डिजिटल कारोबार, विद्युतीय भुक्तानी पूर्वाधार र अन्तरदेशीय भुक्तानी प्रणाली विकासका लागि भइरहेका प्रयासबारे जानकारी गराएका हुन्।
बैठकमा ‘डिजिटल भुक्तानी आबद्धता र नवीनतामार्फत क्षेत्रीय वित्तीय एकीकरण’ विषयमा भएको छलफलमा पौडेलले सुरक्षित, सहज र प्रभावकारी भुक्तानी प्रणाली निर्माणका लागि दक्षिण एसियाली राष्ट्रबीच सहकार्य बढाउनुपर्ने धारणा राखे।
बैठकमा नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकका भुक्तानी प्रणाली विभागका कार्यकारी निर्देशक निश्चल अधिकारीले सीमापार भुक्तानी प्रणालीको अवस्था, सम्भावना र चुनौतीबारे नेपालको प्रस्तुति दिएका थिए।
गभर्नर पौडेलले सार्क बैठकमा नेपालको बाह्य क्षेत्र र वित्तीय अवस्था सबल रहेको जानकारी गराउँदै अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय भूराजनीतिक प्रभावका कारण मूल्यस्थिति र अर्थतन्त्रमा केही चुनौती भने कायम रहेको उल्लेख गरे।
बैठकमा दक्षिण एसियाली मुलुकका केन्द्रीय बैंकका प्रतिनिधिहरूले सीमापार भुक्तानी प्रणालीलाई बलियो बनाउने, वित्तीय समावेशीकरण बढाउने, जलवायु लगानी, करेन्सी स्वाप तथा साझा अनुसन्धानका विषयमा छलफल गरेका थिए।
सार्कफाइनान्स बैठकमा सहभागी राष्ट्रका प्रतिनिधिहरूले क्षेत्रीय आर्थिक तथा वित्तीय सहकार्य विस्तारमा जोड दिएका थिए। सन् १९९८ मा स्थापना भएको सार्कफाइनान्सले दक्षिण एसियाली मुलुकका केन्द्रीय बैंकबीच आर्थिक नीति र वित्तीय क्षेत्रसम्बन्धी सहकार्यको माध्यमका रूपमा काम गर्दै आएको छ।
Kathmandu — Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Poudel has emphasized the need for stronger regional cooperation among South Asian countries to expand digital payment systems and make cross-border transactions more efficient.
Participating in the 49th SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Group Meeting and Symposium held in Paro, Bhutan, Governor Poudel highlighted Nepal’s progress in developing electronic payment infrastructure, expanding digital transactions and improving mechanisms for international payments.
During a panel discussion on “Advancing Regional Financial Integration through Digital Payment Connectivity and Innovation,” Governor Poudel said that cooperation among South Asian nations was essential to build secure, accessible and efficient payment networks across the region.
He shared Nepal’s recent initiatives in digital payment development, including the expansion of electronic payment systems and efforts to facilitate cross-border transactions.
The meeting also discussed the challenges and opportunities related to improving interoperability among payment systems of South Asian countries. Nepal Rastra Bank’s Executive Director of the Payment Systems Department, Nishchal Adhikari, presented Nepal’s current status, progress and challenges in cross-border payment systems.
Governor Poudel informed participants that Nepal’s external and financial sectors remain stable. However, he noted that global geopolitical developments continue to create challenges for price stability and overall economic management.
Representatives from central banks of SAARC member countries discussed issues including financial inclusion, climate investment, sustainable development, currency swap arrangements, shared research initiatives and future areas of regional cooperation.
During the event, Governor Poudel also held a separate meeting with Bhutan’s Finance Minister Lyonpo Lekey Dorji and discussed matters related to economic and financial cooperation.
SAARCFINANCE, established in 1998, serves as a platform for cooperation among central bank governors and finance secretaries of SAARC member states on macroeconomic policies, financial sector issues and mutual assistance. The organization was formally recognized during the 11th SAARC Summit held in Kathmandu in January 2002.
