Various banks, capital firms, and merchant banks have requested Demat account holders to renew their accounts. If the accounts are not renewed by the end of the Nepali month of Asar, they will be frozen. The validity of Demat accounts expires with the end of the fiscal year, making renewal essential.
The renewal fee for a Demat account is NPR 100, while the fee for Mero Share is NPR 50. Account holders can pay the renewal fee at their respective banks, brokers, merchant banks, or capitals, and it can also be paid through various digital wallets.
According to CDS and Clearing, there are currently over 6.28 million active Demat accounts and over 5.33 million Mero Share accounts. A total of 109 institutions are providing DP services.
