Sahas Urja Receives Pre-Approval from Electricity Regulatory Commission for Rights Issue

Kathmandu – Sahas Urja Limited has received pre-approval from the Electricity Regulatory Commission to issue rights shares. As per regulatory provisions, hydropower companies must obtain prior approval from the commission before proceeding with a rights offering.The company had submitted an application on Chaitra 9 seeking approval to issue rights shares in a 1:1 ratio based on its paid-up capital of NPR 4.57 billion. Following a review of the proposal, the commission, in its meeting held on Chaitra 12, approved the issuance of rights shares in the proposed ratio.With the pre-approval secured, the company will now move forward to seek final approval from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). Only after obtaining SEBON’s consent will the company be able to proceed with the rights issuance process.Subsequently, the company will announce a book closure date to determine eligible shareholders before issuing the rights shares. The move is seen as part of the company’s effort to strengthen its capital base and support future project development.
