आर्थिक वर्ष २०८१/८२ को पहिलो पाँच महिनामा नेपालीहरूको विदेश रोजगारीमा उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि भएको छ। यो अवधिमा १,९०,००० भन्दा बढी नेपाली रोजगारीको खोजीमा विदेश गएका छन्। यसले देशको वैदेशिक रोजगारीमा निर्भरता र घरेलु रोजगारीका अवसरको अभावलाई उजागर गरेको छ।

कुवेत: १५,०७४ जना (७.९%)
रोमानिया: १०,३८१ जना (५.५%)

वैदेशिक रोजगारीमा वृद्धि संगै, देशको रेमिटेन्समा निर्भरता झन् बढ्दै गएको छ।

नेपाल सरकारले यो चुनौतीलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै दीर्घकालीन आर्थिक समाधानमा प्राथमिकता दिनुपर्ने देखिन्छ। वैदेशिक रोजगारीको प्रभावलाई न्यूनिकरण गर्दै स्वदेशमै रोजगारका अवसर सिर्जना गर्नु आजको आवश्यकता हो।
Nepal has seen a significant rise in the number of citizens migrating for foreign employment during the fiscal year 2024/25. In just the first five months, over 190,000 Nepalese have left the country seeking better opportunities abroad. This trend reflects the nation’s heavy reliance on foreign remittances and the lack of sufficient job opportunities domestically.

Total Migration: Over 190,000 Nepalese migrated in five months.
Top Destination: The UAE hosted the largest share, with 70,437 workers, accounting for 37% of the total migrants.
Other Major Destinations:
Saudi Arabia: 32,282 migrants (17%)
Qatar: 20,336 migrants (10.7%)
Kuwait: 15,074 migrants (7.9%)
Romania: 10,381 migrants (5.5%)
Rising Interest in Asia and Europe:
Japan received 6,861 workers (3.6%), while South Korea attracted 4,931 workers (2.6%).
European countries like Cyprus and Malta also saw increased migration.
Emerging and Declining Destinations:
Emerging: Countries such as Romania and Cyprus are gaining popularity for better wages and working conditions.
Declining: Malaysia, a former major destination, saw only 194 migrants.
Minimal Migration: Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Israel recorded fewer than 30 workers combined.

This rising trend underscores Nepal’s dependence on remittances, which remain a cornerstone of its economy. However, it also highlights the challenges posed by limited job opportunities and economic stagnation within the country.
