Three major investor organizations in Nepal have submitted an 8-point demand to the government, calling for immediate reforms to strengthen the capital market. Nepal Securities Investors Association, Nepal Share Market Investors Association and Nepal Shareholders Association jointly issued a statement urging the government to take urgent steps to protect the market from further decline and restore investor confidence. The investors have demanded a high-level probe into alleged irregularities at the Securities Board of Nepal, implementation of the pending ISIN directive, permission for NRNs to invest in the secondary market, restrictions on premium IPOs of weak companies, mandatory 30% promoter ownership, investor representation in regulatory bodies, and immediate implementation of the restructuring report of the Nepal Stock Exchange.
