कसले सिफारिस गर्छ नयाँ गभर्नरको नाम ? Three-Member Committee Formed to Recommend 18th NRB Governor
सरकारले नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकको १८औं गभर्नर नियुक्तिका लागि तीन सदस्यीय सिफारिस समिति गठन गरेको छ। अर्थमन्त्री विष्णुप्रसाद पौडेलको संयोजकत्वमा गठित समितिमा पूर्वगभर्नर विजयनाथ भट्टराई र अर्थविद् डा. विश्व पौडेल सदस्य छन्। नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंक ऐन, २०५८ अनुसार मन्त्रिपरिषद्ले गभर्नर नियुक्तिअघि यस्तो समिति बनाउनुपर्छ।
वर्तमान गभर्नर महाप्रसाद अधिकारीको पाँचवर्षे कार्यकाल चैत २४ गते सकिँदैछ। २०७६ चैत २५ देखि कार्यभार सम्हालेका उनको कार्यकाल सकिन एक महिना बाँकी छँदै समिति गठन भएको हो। ऐनअनुसार समितिले एक डेपुटी गभर्नर सिफारिस गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ। हालका दुई डेपुटी गभर्नरसहित राष्ट्र बैंकका पूर्वनिर्देशक, पूर्वप्रशासक र बहालवाला प्रमुख कार्यकारी अधिकृतहरू गभर्नरको आकांक्षीका रूपमा देखिएका छन्। समितिले सिफारिस गरेपछि मन्त्रिपरिषद्ले नियुक्ति गर्नेछ।
The government has formed a three-member committee to recommend the 18th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Chaired by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the committee includes former NRB Governor Bijayanath Bhattarai and economist Dr. Bishwa Paudel. As per the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058, the Council of Ministers must form such a committee before appointing a governor.
Current Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari’s five-year term ends on March 24, 2025. Appointed on March 24, 2020, he assumed office the following day. With a month left in his tenure, the committee has been tasked with selecting his successor. The Act mandates recommending one deputy governor. Current deputy governors, along with former NRB directors, administrators, and serving CEOs, are among the aspirants. The Cabinet will finalize the appointment based on the committee’s recommendation.
