भारतसँग मात्र १ खर्ब ३५ अर्ब घाटा : आयातमा निर्भरता झन् बढ्योTrade Deficit with India Crosses Rs. 135 Billion: Import Dependence Deepens
काठमाडौं । चालु आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ को पहिलो दुई महिनामा नेपालले भारतसँगको व्यापारमा मात्रै १ खर्ब ३५ अर्ब रुपैयाँभन्दा बढी घाटा व्यहोरेको छ। भन्सार विभागका अनुसार यस अवधिमा भारतबाट १ खर्ब ७३ अर्ब ५४ करोड रुपैयाँको सामान आयात गरिएको छ भने निर्यात भने ३८ अर्ब ३५ करोड रुपैयाँमा सीमित रह्यो।
भारतसँगको व्यापारिक सम्बन्ध परम्परागत रूपमा घनिष्ठ भए पनि नेपाल लगातार आयात–निर्भर बन्दै गएको तथ्याङ्कले देखाउँछ। पेट्रोलियम पदार्थ, गाडी, खाद्यान्न, औषधि, लत्ता कपडा लगायतका वस्तुमा भारत मुख्य आपूर्तिकर्ता बनेको छ।
यता, नेपालले भारततर्फ प्रमुख रूपमा सोयाबिन तेल, चिया, अदुवा, मसला र कर्पेट निर्यात गरेको छ। तर निर्यात वृद्धिको गति आयात वृद्धिको तुलनामा न्यून रहँदा कुल घाटा अझै बढेको छ।
विशेषज्ञहरूको भनाइमा, भारतसँगको व्यापार घाटा घटाउन नेपालले आयात प्रतिस्थापन गर्ने उत्पादनमा लगानी, निर्यात विविधीकरण र गुणस्तरीय उत्पादनमार्फत भारतीय बजारमा प्रवेश बढाउनुपर्ने आवश्यकता छ। नत्र, भारतसँगको निर्भरता अझ बढ्दै जाने र विदेशी मुद्रा सञ्चितिमा थप दबाब पर्न सक्ने चेतावनी उनीहरूले दिएका छन्।
Kathmandu – In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, Nepal recorded a massive trade deficit of more than Rs. 135 billion with India alone. According to the Department of Customs, imports from India reached Rs. 173.54 billion, while exports stood at just Rs. 38.35 billion.
Although Nepal and India share a traditionally close trade relationship, the data shows that Nepal has become increasingly dependent on India for essential goods. Petroleum products, vehicles, food grains, medicines, and textiles are among the major items imported from India.
On the other hand, Nepal’s exports to India are led by soybean oil, tea, ginger, spices, and carpets. Despite some growth in exports, the pace has been far slower compared to rising imports, leading to the widening deficit.
Experts warn that unless Nepal invests in import-substitution industries, export diversification, and improved product quality, the dependence on India will only increase, putting further pressure on foreign currency reserves. Strengthening competitiveness in the Indian market is seen as a crucial step to reduce the imbalance.
