काठमाडौँमा ७४ लाख रुपैयाँ बराबरको क्रिप्टो कारोबारमा दुई जना पक्राउTwo Arrested in Kathmandu for Involvement in Rs. 74.52 Million Crypto Transaction
जिल्ला प्रहरी परिसर काठमाडौँले रु ७४ लाख ५२ हजार बराबरको अभौतिक (क्रिप्टो) मुद्रा कारोबारमा संलग्न रहेको आरोपमा दुई व्यक्तिलाई पक्राउ गरी सार्वजनिक गरेको छ। पक्राउ परेका व्यक्तिहरूमा काठमाडौँ महानगरपालिका–१४ का ३६ वर्षीय विशाल डङ्गोल तथा मोरङ मिक्लाजुङ–१ घर भई हाल काठमाडौँ कलङ्की बस्ने ४५ वर्षीय उमेश श्रेष्ठ रहेका प्रहरीले जनाएको छ। प्रवक्ता तथा प्रहरी उपरीक्षक पवनकुमार भट्टराईका अनुसार उनीहरूलाई विशेष सूचनाका आधारमा पक्राउ गरिएको हो।
शनिबार काठमाडौँ महानगरपालिका–१०, बिजुली बजार क्षेत्रमा केही व्यक्तिहरू क्रिप्टो मुद्रा कारोबार गरिरहेको गोप्य सूचनाका आधारमा प्रहरी टोली खटिएको थियो। सोही क्रममा आरोपित दुवैजनालाई नियन्त्रणमा लिइएको प्रहरीको भनाइ छ। प्रहरीले उनीहरूबाट क्रिप्टो व्यापारमा प्रयोग भएका विभिन्न कम्पनीका पाँच थान मोबाइल फोन समेत बरामद गरेको छ।
प्रहरीका अनुसार पक्राउ परेकाहरूले अभौतिक मुद्रा प्रयोग तथा कारोबार गरेको प्रारम्भिक अनुसन्धानबाट पुष्टि भइसकेको छ। नेपालमा क्रिप्टो कारोबार कानुनी रूपमा निषेधित भएकाले उनीहरू विरुद्ध ‘अभौतिक मुद्रा प्रयोग गर्न नहुने’ सम्बन्धी कसुरमा थप अनुसन्धान भइरहेको प्रहरी परिसरले जनाएको छ।
राहदानी बनाइदिने भन्दै बिचौलियाको काममा तीन जना पक्राउ
यस्तै, राहदानी छिटोछरितो बनाईदिने नाममा बिचौलियाको काम गर्दै सेवाग्राही ठग्ने तीन जनालाई काठमाडौँ उपत्यका अपराध अनुसन्धान कार्यालयको टोलीले पक्राउ गरेको छ।
पक्राउ पर्नेहरूमा बझाङ बित्थडचिर–६ का १९ वर्षीय हेमन्तसिंह ओखेडा, काठमाडौँ महानगरपालिका–१८ का ४५ वर्षीय मनराज श्रेष्ठ, तथा प्यूठान नगरपालिका–१ का ३० वर्षीय दीपेश केएम रहेका उपत्यका अपराध अनुसन्धान कार्यालयका प्रवक्ता एवं प्रहरी उपरीक्षक काजीकुमार आचार्यले जानकारी दिए।
उनीहरूले त्रिपुरेश्वरस्थित राहदानी विभागको मूलगेट बाहिर सेवाग्राहीलाई राहदानी छिटो बनाइदिने भन्दै विभिन्न प्रलोभन देखाई अतिरिक्त रकम लिने, सेवाग्राहीलाई हैरानी दिने, तथा विभागका कर्मचारीको कामकारबाहीमा अवरोध पुर्याएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ। प्रहरीले तीनै जनाविरुद्ध आवश्यक कानुनी प्रक्रिया अघि बढाएको छ।
A team from the Kathmandu District Police Range has arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in trading Rs. 74,52,000 worth of cryptocurrency, which is illegal in Nepal. According to Police Spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, those arrested have been identified as 36-year-old Bishal Dangol of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–14 and 45-year-old Umesh Shrestha, originally from Miklajung-1, Morang, and currently residing in Kalanki, Kathmandu.
Police acted on a tip-off that some individuals were involved in crypto transactions in the Bijuli Bazaar area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–10. Acting on the information, a police team deployed from the District Police Range conducted a raid and apprehended the duo. Authorities also seized five mobile phones used to operate various crypto trading applications.
Preliminary investigation shows that the arrested individuals were actively involved in crypto trading, which is prohibited under Nepali law. Police have begun further investigation under the charge of unauthorized use of virtual currency, Bhattarai confirmed.
Three Middlemen Arrested for Cheating Passport Applicants
In a separate incident, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested three individuals who were working as middlemen, cheating people seeking passport services.
The accused have been identified as:
19-year-old Hemant Singh Okheda of Bithadchir-6, Bajhang, currently living in Kirtipur
45-year-old Manraj Shrestha of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–18
30-year-old Dipesh KM of Pyuthan Municipality
According to SP Kaji Kumar Acharya, spokesperson for the Crime Investigation Office, the trio was found outside the Department of Passports, Tripureshwar, luring service seekers by promising “faster passport processing” in exchange for extra money.
