utstanding Concessional Loans at NPR 138 Billion

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has reported that there are outstanding concessional loans amounting to NPR 138.71 billion as of the end of Baisakh. These loans have been provided to 126,191 borrowers.

The largest portion of these loans is in the agriculture and livestock sector, with 49,063 borrowers accounting for NPR 94.04 billion. Similarly, the women entrepreneurship loans have been provided to 74,942 women entrepreneurs, totaling NPR 42.87 billion. Education certificate collateral loans have been provided to 119 individuals, amounting to NPR 240.6 million. Loans for those returning from foreign employment total NPR 2.9 billion for 795 individuals. Development loans for the Dalit community amount to NPR 3.17 billion for 883 individuals, and technical education loans total NPR 250 million for 105 individuals.

Additionally, loans for earthquake-affected households amount to NPR 7 million for 134 individuals. Loans for 100 garment industries total NPR 1.11 billion, and youth self-employment loans amount to NPR 110 million.

According to government policy, in 2075 B.S., Nepal Rastra Bank formulated procedures to provide 10 types of concessional loans. Banks and financial institutions are required to set interest rates at no more than 2% above their base rate for these loans, and they cannot charge additional fees except for interest, information fees, insurance premiums, and loan protection fees.
