विश्व बैंकले नेपालका लागि ५ करोड २० लाख डलरको स्वच्छ वायु र समृद्धि परियोजना ऋण स्वीकृत गरेको छWorld Bank Approves USD 52 Million Loan for Nepal's Clean Air and Prosperity Project
विश्व बैंकले नेपाललाई ५ करोड २० लाख डलर (करिब ६ अर्ब ९० करोड नेपाली रुपैयाँ) बराबरको सहुलियतपूर्ण ऋण स्वीकृत गरेको छ । यस ऋणले नेपालमा वायु प्रदुषण न्यूनिकरण र वायु गुणस्तर व्यवस्थापन प्रणालीलाई सुदृढ गर्न मद्दत गर्नेछ । 'नेपाल स्वच्छ वायु र समृद्धि परियोजना' नामक यस कार्यक्रमले विशेष गरी औद्योगिक र व्यावसायिक क्षेत्रका बोयलर र भट्टीहरूबाट निस्कने हानिकारक सूक्ष्म कणहरूको उत्सर्जन कम गर्ने लक्ष्य राखेको छ । परियोजना मुख्यत: काठमाडौं उपत्यका, तराई र पहाडी फेदीका उच्च प्रदूषण जोखिम भएका क्षेत्रमा केन्द्रित हुनेछ।विश्व बैंकका अनुसार, नेपालमा वायु प्रदूषणका कारण स्वास्थ्योपचार र उत्पादकत्वमा गिरावट आएर कुल गार्हस्थ्य उत्पादनको ६ प्रतिशतभन्दा बढी हिस्सा गुमाइएको छ । यस परियोजनाले उक्त आर्थिक भार कम गर्न मद्दत पुर्याउनेछ, उद्योगलाई सहुलियतपूर्ण ऋण र प्राविधिक सहयोग उपलब्ध गराउनेछ, जसबाट उद्योगको सञ्चालन खर्च घट्ने र प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक क्षमता बढ्नेछ। माल्दिभ्स, नेपाल र श्रीलंकाका लागि विश्व बैंकका डिभिजन निर्देशक डेभिड सिस्लेनले भने, 'यो परियोजना नेपाली उद्योगहरूलाई स्वच्छ उत्पादनतर्फ प्रोत्साहित गर्दै दीर्घकालीन दिगो विकासमा योगदान पुर्याउनेछ।' यो परियोजना विश्व बैंकको 'इन्डो–ग्याङ्गेटिक प्लेन्स एण्ड हिमालयन फुटहिल्स' क्षेत्रीय वायु गुणस्तर व्यवस्थापन कार्यक्रमको हिस्सा रहेको छ।
The World Bank has approved a concessional loan of USD 52 million (approximately NPR 6.9 billion) to Nepal to support efforts to reduce air pollution and strengthen air quality management systems. The project, named 'Nepal Clean Air and Prosperity Project', aims to reduce harmful particulate emissions from boilers and furnaces used in industrial and commercial sectors. The project will primarily target areas in the Kathmandu Valley, Terai, and hilly regions, where the risk of air pollution is particularly high.According to the World Bank, air pollution in Nepal is responsible for more than 6% of the country's GDP due to the associated health costs and decreased productivity. This project will help reduce that economic burden by providing concessional loans and technical support to industries, thus reducing operational costs and improving their competitiveness. David Sislain, World Bank’s Division Director for Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, stated that the project would encourage Nepali industries to move towards clean production and contribute to long-term sustainable development. The project is part of the World Bank's regional air quality management program for the Indo-Gangetic Plains and Himalayan foothills.
