87-Year-Old Raji Rana Makes a Personal Donation of NPR 10.9 Million for Disaster Relief

To support the victims of the recent devastating floods and landslides across the country, 87-year-old Raji Rana has contributed NPR 10.9 million (Rs 1.09 crore) in cash to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. This stands as one of the largest individual financial contributions made by a private citizen to the state during this time of crisis.

Coming from a business background, Rana sent the contribution through her representative, Krishna Basnet, who officially handed the cheque over to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at the Ministry of Finance on Friday. On the same occasion, the staff working at Rana's office also handed over NPR 80,000, collected on their own accord, to the Finance Minister to be deposited into the fund.

In addition to this substantial cash contribution, Rana is preparing to provide food and in-kind relief materials worth an additional NPR 2.5 million for the displaced populations. She has pledged to distribute these essential supplies to the most critically affected areas in direct coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
