Business Visa for Hong Kong – Eligibility & Processing for Nepali Entrepreneurs (2025)

Nepali entrepreneurs who wish to travel to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for business purposes must obtain a Business Visit Visa or Entry Permit before traveling, as Nepal is not included in Hong Kong’s visa-free list. The Immigration Department of Hong Kong allows business travelers to apply online through its official portal, simplifying the documentation and approval process.

A Hong Kong Business Visa is granted to foreign nationals who intend to visit the city for short-term business activities, such as attending meetings, trade fairs, exhibitions, contract signings, investment discussions, or establishing business partnerships. It does not allow full-time employment, residence, or company operation within Hong Kong.

To be eligible, the applicant’s bona fides must not be in doubt. The person must have sufficient financial means to cover travel and accommodation expenses during the stay, hold a valid passport, and provide evidence of a return or onward ticket. Business visitors should also submit relevant documents such as invitation letters from Hong Kong companies, letters from their employer or business firm in Nepal, proof of business registration, or conference participation confirmation.

A local sponsor in Hong Kong is optional but highly recommended. The sponsor can be either an individual aged 18 or above or a registered company, preferably with an existing business relationship with the applicant. Having a sponsor helps the Immigration Department validate the visit’s purpose and speed up processing.

Documents Required for Business Visa Application:

  • Valid passport (minimum six months’ validity)

  • Recent passport-size photograph

  • Completed visa application form (ID 1003A) and sponsor form (ID 1003B if applicable)

  • Letter from employer or company in Nepal stating purpose of travel

  • Invitation letter from Hong Kong-based company or organization

  • Bank statement or financial proof

  • Return or onward air ticket and hotel reservation

  • Business registration or proof of trade activity

All documents must be uploaded in JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG, or TIF format (each under 5 MB) when applying online.

Processing Time and Fee:

The Hong Kong Immigration Department generally processes business visa applications within four weeks after receiving all necessary documents. Applicants receive an acknowledgment email within 7 working days. If no notice is received within 10 days, they may contact (+852) 2824 6111 or [email protected].

Upon approval, a secure payment link is sent via email. Applicants can pay online through GovHK, Faster Payment System (FPS), Payment by Phone Service (PPS), or credit card. Once payment is completed, the e-Visa can be downloaded immediately or printed on A4 paper. Business travelers must present both their valid passport and e-Visaat the immigration counter upon arrival in Hong Kong.

Applicants can also apply by post or through a Chinese Embassy/Consulate abroad, though the online system is faster and more convenient.
