China Visa Processing Time for Nepali Citizens: What to Expect

For Nepali citizens planning to travel to China, understanding the visa processing timeline is essential. As of June 25, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal and the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Kathmandu have officially implemented a new online visa application system that simplifies the entire process. Applicants must first complete their online submission through the official website https://www.visaforchina.cn/KTM3_EN/qianzhengyewu before visiting CVASC for the final stage.

After submitting the form and uploading necessary documents such as a clear passport data page, recent photograph, invitation letter, flight ticket, and hotel booking, the application enters a preliminary review phase. The Embassy processes these applications strictly in the order they are received, not based on the applicant’s intended travel date. If there are missing, unclear, or incorrect documents, the application will be rejected, and the applicant will need to make corrections and resubmit, which may extend the total review period.

Once the “Visa Application Certificate” email is received, the applicant can visit the CVASC office in Kathmandu for formal submission. The official processing time is 2–4 working days, counted from the day the applicant physically submits their passport and documents at the CVASC. This period does not include weekends or public holidays. For travelers with urgent schedules, priority review is available; by visiting CVASC with all documents and a laptop, applicants can request their application to be fast-tracked, allowing it to enter formal review on the same day.

Delays may occur due to various reasons such as incomplete applications, high seasonal demand, or embassy workload. The Embassy also emphasized that only individuals physically present in Nepal are eligible for formal submission. However, foreigners can start the online application before entering Nepal and later upload their valid Nepali visa and entry stamp after arrival.

In summary, the visa process for Nepali citizens now involves two stages: online preliminary review and formal document submission. If all documents are accurate and complete, the overall processing takes 2–4 working days after passport submission. Applicants are advised to apply early, keep their documents error-free, and frequently check their email for embassy updates to avoid delays.
