Extend or Renew Your China Medical Visa — Full Process for Nepalis

The China Medical Visa extension or renewal is crucial for Nepali patients undergoing long-term treatment in China. Applicants must submit the hospital’s medical continuation letter, valid insurance, and financial proof to the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) before the visa expires. Timely renewal prevents fines and ensures uninterrupted medical care. With the professional support of Yatra for Fun Pvt. Ltd., patients can complete the process efficiently and remain compliant with Chinese regulations.

Extend or Renew Your China Medical Visa — Full Process for Nepalis

For Nepali citizens receiving treatment in China under a Medical Visa (R/M Category), extending or renewing the visa becomes essential when the treatment duration exceeds the visa’s validity. China allows foreign patients to apply for an extension or renewal from within the country through the Exit and Entry Administration Department of the Public Security Bureau (PSB). This process ensures that patients can continue their medical care legally without overstaying or facing penalties.

If your treatment is still ongoing, it’s recommended to apply for the visa extension 7–10 days before the expiry date. Applications must be submitted inside China, typically at the PSB office located in the same city as the treating hospital — such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, or Chengdu. The extension request must be supported by valid medical documents and an official statement from the hospital confirming that your treatment is not yet complete.

The required documents for extending or renewing a China Medical Visa include:

  • Original passport and current visa.

  • Medical certificate or continuation letter from the Chinese hospital specifying that ongoing treatment is necessary.

  • Hospital invitation or admission confirmation letter mentioning the treatment duration.

  • Accommodation proof (hotel or hospital stay record).

  • Updated bank statement (last 3 months) showing financial capability.

  • Health insurance policy covering the new stay duration.

  • Visa extension form (provided at PSB).

The PSB officers will review your case based on medical evidence and financial stability. If approved, the visa is usually extended for 30–90 days, and in some long-term cases, for up to 6 months. For extended treatments, some patients are also eligible to convert their visa into a Temporary Residence Permit for Medical Purposes, which allows multiple entries and a longer stay.

It is vital to apply before the visa expires; overstaying can result in fines of RMB 500 per day and, in serious cases, deportation or future visa bans. Therefore, patients and attendants must regularly check their visa validity and plan renewals well in advance.

To ensure that the renewal process is accurate and stress-free, Yatra for Fun Pvt. Ltd., located at Koteshwor-32, Kathmandu, provides professional assistance to Nepali applicants. The agency helps with hospital coordination, document updates, insurance renewals, financial statement preparation, and guidance on PSB submission procedures. Their expert team ensures your medical visa extension process is handled smoothly and legally.
