The Finance Minister also said the multiple chains of decisions — ranging from forest area approval to tree-felling orders — will be significantly reduced.

Kathmandu — The government will remain mindful of establishing harmony — rather than conflict — between development and the environment, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced through the budget.
To this end, the Environment Protection Act, 2076, and the Forest Act, 2076, will be amended.
Wagle said a provision will be made so that a supplementary environmental impact assessment is not required in cases where the area of forest or the number of trees to be felled is lower than what was stated in the approved environmental impact assessment report.
The Finance Minister also said the multiple chains of decisions — ranging from forest area approval to tree-felling orders — will be significantly reduced.
