Kathmandu — The government will build a strong foundation of transparency and accountability in the political system, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced through the budget.
Wagle said that to institutionalise healthy democratic competition, a broad political debate will be held on providing state grants to nationally recognised political parties on the basis of the votes they received in the most recent general election.
The Finance Minister added that arrangements will be made for the Auditor General to audit any such grants made available.
