Hong Kong Visa-Free Countries List — Is Nepal Included?

As of 2025, Nepal is not part of Hong Kong’s visa-free countries list. All Nepali passport holders must apply for a visa or entry permit before travel, regardless of visit type. The application can be done online, by post, or through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. Reliable visa assistance is available via Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (9802348957).

Hong Kong Visa-Free Countries List — Is Nepal Included?

Hong Kong offers visa-free entry to nationals of around 170 countries and territories for short stays ranging from 7 to 180 days, depending on nationality. These countries include the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and many members of the European Union. However, Nepal is not included in the Hong Kong visa-free list. This means that Nepali passport holders must obtain a visa or entry permit before traveling to Hong Kong — regardless of the purpose of visit, whether for tourism, business, study, or family visit.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKSAR) strictly enforces this requirement for Nepali travelers. Anyone holding a Nepali passport must apply for a Visit Visa/Entry Permit in advance through one of the following methods:

  1. Online submission via the official HKSAR Immigration Department portal,

  2. Postal submission to the Immigration Headquarters in Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong, or

  3. Through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, which handles Hong Kong visa applications for Nepali citizens.

Applicants must prepare all necessary supporting documents including a valid passport copy (minimum 6 months validity), recent photo, bank statement or proof of funds, flight and hotel booking, and a cover letter explaining the visit purpose and duration. For those visiting family or friends, sponsor documents or invitation letters are also required.

Even though Hong Kong allows citizens of many countries to enter visa-free for short periods, Nepal remains subject to pre-travel visa approval under Hong Kong’s 2025 immigration policy update. Travelers who attempt to travel without the proper visa or entry permit will not be allowed entry and may be denied boarding by airlines.

For Nepali travelers who want to simplify the process, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (Contact: 9802348957)offers professional assistance with preparing and submitting Hong Kong visa applications, including financial proof, form completion, and document verification for a smooth approval experience
