Hong Kong Visit Visa from Nepal 2026: Online Entry Guide

Hong Kong is a preferred destination for Nepali travelers due to its modern skyline, shopping hubs, cultural attractions, and convenient transit connections. In 2026, Nepali passport holders who wish to visit Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for tourism, leisure, short visits, business meetings, family visits, or transit must apply for entry permission (visitor visa) through Hong Kong’s official online application system. This guide explains the online entry process, eligibility, required documents, and important rules in a clear and practical manner.

Who Can Use the Online Entry Service

Nepali citizens can use Hong Kong’s online service to submit applications for entry for visit or transit. This online service is not applicable for extension of stay after arrival in Hong Kong. If an extension is required later, it must be applied for separately through the appropriate channel. Both the applicant and sponsor (if applicable) must complete and sign the online application to confirm that all information provided is true, correct, and complete. For applicants under 16 years of age, the application must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Eligibility for Nepali Travelers

Eligibility for entry to Hong Kong depends on the purpose of visit, financial standing, travel history, and supporting documents. Applicants should ensure that their visit purpose—such as leisure, transit, business, or family visit—matches the documents submitted. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee approval, as each application is assessed individually by Hong Kong Immigration.

Documents to Be Submitted Online (Applicant)

Applicants must upload scanned copies of required documents. The following are typically required for Nepali citizens:

  • Valid passport/travel document showing personal particulars, date of issue, and date of expiry

  • Recent photograph of the applicant

  • Proof of financial standing, such as bank statements, savings account passbooks, tax receipts, and proof of employment if available (company leave letter, salary slips, etc.)

  • Proof of transportation arrangements, such as flight itinerary

  • Proof of the proposed visit based on purpose:

    • Leisure visit: itinerary, package tour receipt, or travel plan

    • Transit: onward travel itinerary

    • Business visit: employer letter, invitation letter from a Hong Kong company, or trade fair confirmation

    • Family visit: proof of relationship with the local sponsor

  • Other supporting documents, if applicable

Documents to Be Submitted Online (Sponsor – If Applicable)

If the application involves a sponsor in Hong Kong, additional documents are required:

  • Company chop and Business Registration Certificate (if the sponsor is a company)

  • Hong Kong identity card and/or travel document showing personal particulars and latest condition/limit of stay (for individual sponsors, especially non-permanent residents), and/or latest e-Visa if applicable

  • Other supporting documents, as required by the case

File Format & Upload Requirements

All documents must be scanned and uploaded in accepted formats: JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG, or TIF. Each file must be 5 MB or below. Documents without photos should be uploaded in grayscale, while documents with photos must be uploaded in color. Applicants can upload multiple files per category within the system’s limits.

How to Apply Online

Once all documents are prepared and scanned correctly, applicants can access Hong Kong’s official online application portal and complete the form. Ensure that all uploaded files are clear and that the information entered matches the documents exactly. Incomplete or inconsistent applications may lead to delays or refusal.

Important Notes for Entry

Approval of an online application does not guarantee entry. Final admission is decided by immigration officers at the port of entry. Visitors must strictly follow the approved purpose of visit and the permitted duration of stay. Overstaying or engaging in activities not allowed under a visitor visa may result in penalties or future entry restrictions.
