How Long Can You Stay in Hong Kong on a Nepali Passport

Nepali citizens are not visa-exempt for Hong Kong. With a valid Visit Visa or Entry Permit, they can typically stay for up to 30 days, extendable under valid reasons. The final stay duration is determined by immigration officers upon entry. Extensions must be requested within 14 days before visa expiry. Assistance is available from Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (9802348957) for documentation and extension processing.

How Long Can You Stay in Hong Kong on a Nepali Passport

For Nepali passport holders, the duration of stay in Hong Kong is determined by the type of visa or entry permit issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKSAR). Since Nepal is not included in the list of visa-free countries, Nepali citizens must obtain a Visit Visa/Entry Permit prior to travel. Once approved, the period of stay is decided at the time of entry by immigration officers based on the visa category, purpose of visit, and supporting documents.

Typically, Nepali visitors are granted a stay of up to 30 days for tourism or short business trips, though the duration may vary. For family or sponsor-based visits, immigration authorities may issue a permit allowing a longer stay of 60 to 90 days depending on the sponsor’s status and documentation. Each visa is specific — it defines the permitted duration and the activities allowed during the visit. Travelers are strictly prohibited from engaging in employment, studies, or business activities unless they possess a separate work or study permit.

If a traveler wishes to remain in Hong Kong beyond the approved period, they must apply for an extension of stay before their visa expires. According to HKSAR guidelines, an extension request should be filed within 14 days before the limit of stay ends, either online or through the Extension Section at the Immigration Headquarters, Tseung Kwan O. Approval is discretionary and depends on the applicant’s justification, financial proof, and previous immigration record. Overstaying beyond the permitted limit is a serious offense and can result in fines, detention, or future visa rejections.

In general, Nepali citizens visiting Hong Kong for tourism or family purposes should expect a stay of 14 to 30 days, with possible extensions if necessary. For smooth visa approval and correct duration categorization, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (Contact: 9802348957) assists travelers with visa form preparation, document submission, and follow-up with the embassy, ensuring full compliance with Hong Kong’s 2025 immigration rules.
