How Nepali Citizens Can Apply for Hong Kong eVisa Online (2025 Step-by-Step Guide)

In 2025, the Hong Kong Immigration Department introduced a fully digital eVisa (electronic visa) system, allowing citizens of visa-required countries, including Nepal, to apply completely online for visit or business purposes. Since Nepal is not listed among the 170 visa-exempt countries, every Nepali citizen planning to visit Hong Kong must obtain a valid visa or entry permit prior to travel. The new eVisa process simplifies this requirement by enabling applicants to submit their forms, upload necessary documents, and even download their approved visa electronically without needing to visit an embassy in person.
For Nepali citizens, the online process starts with completing the official Form ID 1003A (applicant’s form) and, if applicable, Form ID 1003B (sponsor’s form). These forms are available on the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s website (https://www.immd.gov.hk). Applicants must ensure that their personal details, travel itinerary, and contact information are filled out correctly. Alongside this, applicants need to prepare clear scanned copies of their passport (valid for at least 6 months), a recent passport-sized photo, flight booking, hotel reservation, and financial documents such as bank statements to prove sufficient funds for their stay. Those traveling for meetings or conferences should also attach an invitation letter from the host organization.
Once all documents are ready, applicants can proceed to the Online Application for Entry for Visit/Transit section on the Immigration Department’s portal and upload all required materials. After the digital submission, it is mandatory to send the original signed forms (Form ID 1003A and ID 1003B) by air mail to the Immigration Department, 61 Po Yap Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong. Email applications are not accepted, and physical submission ensures the verification process is completed.
The usual processing period is 2 to 4 weeks, though it may vary depending on workload or the completeness of documents. Applicants can check their application status online through the ImmD Application Status Enquiryportal. Once approved, the Hong Kong eVisa is sent electronically — applicants can log in, download, and print the visa for presentation upon arrival at the airport. The visa typically allows a stay of 14 to 30 days within a three-month validity period.
Nepali visitors can use this visa for tourism, business meetings, trade fairs, or attending seminars, but they are not permitted to sell goods, build exhibition booths, or provide paid services directly to the public. Delivering speeches or presentations is permitted if unpaid or under the approved Short-Term Visitor (STV) Scheme for specific sectors. Overstaying beyond the permitted period is a serious offense under Hong Kong law and may result in fines up to HK$50,000 or imprisonment for up to two years.
