How Nepali Citizens Can Apply for Hong Kong Visit Visa Online from Abroad

Nepali citizens living abroad must apply for a Hong Kong Visit Visa through the official Immigration Department’s online portal before traveling. Applicants must upload all necessary documents, including passport, financial proof, residence permit, and travel itinerary, and wait about four weeks for processing. Upon approval, the e-Visa can be downloaded and presented at entry. For professional guidance, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd. provides complete assistance for faster and error-free visa processing.

How Nepali Citizens Can Apply for Hong Kong Visit Visa Online from Abroad

Nepali citizens residing abroad — whether in the Gulf, Japan, Korea, Australia, or Europe — who wish to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) must apply online for a Visit Visa or Entry Permit prior to travel, as Nepal is not included in Hong Kong’s visa-free list. This rule applies equally to all Nepali passport holders regardless of their country of residence. The Immigration Department of Hong Kong (ImmD) provides a comprehensive online platform that allows applicants to fill out forms, upload supporting documents, pay visa fees, and download their e-Visa upon approval.

To start the application, the applicant must first visit the official ImmD e-Visa website or GovHK online portal. Required documents must be prepared in accepted digital formats — JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG, or TIF — with each file not exceeding 5 MB. The key documents include: a valid Nepali passport with at least six months of validity, a passport-sized color photograph, a completed visa application form (ID 1003A), proof of financial means (bank statements or salary slips), travel itinerary or confirmed round-trip air ticket, and an invitation letter or sponsor details if applicable.

Applicants living abroad must also provide a residence permit or ID card from their current country of stay to show legal residence. In addition, the sponsor in Hong Kong (if applicable) should fill out the ID 1003B form. The Immigration Department encourages applicants to upload all required documents clearly to avoid delays.

After submission, applicants will receive an acknowledgment email within seven working days, confirming that their application has been received. The standard processing time is approximately four weeks from the date all necessary documents are received by the department. During this time, the authorities assess the applicant’s background, financial capacity, and purpose of travel to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.

Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive a payment link via email. The visa fee can be paid online using GovHK portal, FPS, PPS, or credit card. Upon successful payment, the e-Visa can be instantly downloaded or printed on A4 paper. Travelers must present the printed or digital e-Visa along with their valid passport at Hong Kong immigration for entry clearance.

Even if a Nepali citizen resides in a developed country abroad, they are still required to apply for the visa online — there are no automatic exemptions based on residence. However, residing abroad can make the verification process faster, as financial and residence documentation is generally stronger.
