How to Submit Hong Kong Visa Application through Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu

For Nepali citizens planning to visit Hong Kong, all visa applications must be submitted through the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu, which officially represents the Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKSAR) in Nepal. Since Nepal is not on Hong Kong’s visa-free list, every traveler requires prior visa approval before departure.

The application process begins with filling out Form ID1003A (applicant form) and Form ID1003B (sponsor form, if applicable). These forms can be downloaded from the HKSAR Immigration website (www.immd.gov.hk) or obtained directly from the Chinese Embassy, Baluwatar. Both forms must be filled in block letters, signed, and verified before submission. Incomplete forms are the leading cause of application delays.

Applicants must submit a complete set of supporting documents, including:

  • A valid Nepali passport (minimum 6-month validity)

  • Two recent passport-size photographs (white background)

  • A cover letter explaining the travel purpose (tourism, business, or family visit)

  • Confirmed flight and hotel booking

  • Recent 6-month bank statement, salary slip, or sponsor’s financial proof

  • Company or employment letter (if employed)

  • Invitation letter and Hong Kong ID copy (if applicable)

After document preparation, applicants must visit the Chinese Embassy’s Consular Section in Baluwatar to submit their file. The submission hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and collection hours are from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. It’s essential to arrive early with original documents and photocopies.

At submission, a visa fee of approximately HKD 230 (≈ NPR 4,000) plus a small embassy service charge must be paid in cash. The embassy forwards the file to Hong Kong Immigration Headquarters for verification. The processing time generally takes 4–6 weeks, extending to 8 weeks in complex cases. Applicants are advised not to book non-refundable flights until their visa is approved. Once approved, the embassy issues an Entry Permit Label, which must be pasted in the passport before travel.

For smoother processing, agencies like Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor (Contact: 9802348957) assist applicants with form completion, translation, financial documentation, and embassy coordination — reducing errors and delays in approval.
