Malaysia Visit Visa from Nepal 2026: Online & Embassy Guide

Malaysia continues to be a favorite travel destination for Nepali citizens seeking modern cities, cultural diversity, beautiful islands, natural landscapes, and vibrant experiences. In 2026, Nepalese passport holders must obtain a Malaysia Visit Visa before traveling, and this can be done either through the online eVISA system or by applying at the Embassy/High Commission of Malaysia where applicable. Understanding the process, requirements, fees, and rules will help you prepare a strong application and enjoy a smooth journey.

Malaysia eVISA: Easy Online Application

The most convenient route for most Nepali travelers is the Malaysia eVISA, which can only be applied through the official Malaysian Immigration website: https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. The eVISA is ideal for tourists, leisure travelers, and short personal visits.

There are two types of eVISA offered:

Single Entry Visa (SEV)—valid for one entry into Malaysia for eligible nationalities including Nepali travelers.
Multiple Entry Visa (MEV)—valid for multiple entries, allowing a 30-day stay per entry, provided the passport remains valid. MEV is not offered for nationals of Israel and North Korea.

If you are applying as an individual, you cannot apply for an eVISA while inside Malaysia—the eVISA must be obtained before travel. Employers applying on behalf of foreign workers may apply from within Malaysia.

eVISA Processing Time & Validity

Malaysia eVISA applications are typically processed within 2 to 7 working days, excluding weekends, Malaysian public holidays, national holidays in Nepal, or additional processing delays due to incomplete information or required document queries. Unforeseen technical or external issues, such as internet or system maintenance downtime, may further affect processing time.

Once issued, the eVISA is valid for six (6) months from the date of issuance, except for certain categories like foreign workers (valid for 3 months). The eVISA does not guarantee entry—final admission is subject to approval by immigration officers at Malaysia’s border checkpoints.

Important eVISA Rules

Applicants can register up to five (5) passports in one account and submit up to five applications at a time. While group applications are allowed, it is strongly recommended that each applicant submit their own application to avoid errors or complications. If your visa was applied by an agent, you should check the status with that agent, as the official system only recognizes applications submitted via the legitimate portal.

If your departure date changes but remains within the six-month eVISA validity, you do not need to reapply. If you discover information in your application needs correction before payment, you may update it; once payment is completed or your eVISA is approved, you must reapply with correct information.

Upon approval, any previous active Malaysian visa will be automatically cancelled. If a new application is rejected, your prior valid visa remains unchanged.

Entry & Stay Conditions

The Malaysia eVISA allows stays based on your nationality’s eligibility. SEV holders must adhere to the single-entry allowance, while MEV holders may stay up to 30 days per entry. Overstaying the permitted duration may result in fines, deportation, or future travel restrictions.

Upon arrival, Malaysian immigration may check:

  • Valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity

  • Valid eVISA printout or digital eVISA note

  • Confirmed return ticket or onward travel proof

  • Confirmed hotel booking

  • Other supporting documents

Malaysia Embassy/High Commission Visa (Paper Visa Option)

If you prefer not to use the eVISA system or if your circumstances require it (for example, some complex itineraries or specific document types), you may apply for a Malaysia visa through the High Commission or Embassy of Malaysianearest you. Contact the embassy directly for application forms, appointment details, and required supporting documents.

Malaysia Visit Visa Requirements for Nepali Citizens

In addition to the eVISA process, if applying through the Embassy or High Commission, typical requirements for a Malaysia Visit/Tourist Visa may include:

Passport copy—valid for at least 6 months with minimum blank pages
Recent photograph—35 mm × 45 mm
National ID—National ID card, Rastriya Parichaya Patra, or Citizenship certificate
Bank Statement—3-month statement with a minimum closing balance of NPR 4,00,000
Confirmed return air tickets with active PNR
Confirmed hotel booking
Other supporting documents as requested by the embassy

Documents must be genuine, accurate, and consistent with the information on your application form. An embassy visa may take longer than an eVISA, depending on processing and interview requirements.

Tips Before Travel

  • Apply at least 14 days before your travel date to allow sufficient processing time.

  • Carry both physical and digital copies of your eVISA and supporting documents.

  • Ensure your passport has three (3) blank pages minimum before travel.

  • Follow all immigration rules to avoid fines or entry denial.
