Nepal Telecom Extends Free Voice and Data Services for Flood Victims

To ensure seamless communication for citizens affected by the recent floods and landslides, Nepal Telecom (NTC) has extended its provision of free voice calls, data, and SMS services. Initially set to expire on August 30 (Bhadra 14), this relief package will now remain active until further notice, the state-owned telecommunications provider announced.

The company stated that the extension aims to facilitate ongoing rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the disaster-hit regions while allowing victims to stay connected with their loved ones. Under this emergency scheme, subscribers in the affected areas will continue to receive 2 GB of data, 50 SMS, and free voice calls on a daily basis.

Despite significant damage to some of its physical infrastructure caused by the incessant rainfall and floods, NTC assured that its technical teams are working round the clock to keep communication networks operational. While most of the damaged facilities have already been restored, rapid repair work is underway for the remaining structures. The company has urged residents in the affected zones to fully utilize these free services to stay safe and connected during this crisis.
