Noodles Exports Rise 68.9%: Processed Food Industry Expands in Global Market

Nepal’s noodles exports surged by 68.9% in FY 2025/26, reflecting the rapid growth of the country’s processed food industry in the international market. According to NRB trade data, noodles worth Rs. 242.3 million were exported in a single month, compared to Rs. 143.4 million in the same period last year. This marks noodles as one of Nepal’s fastest-growing export commodities, gaining popularity across South Asia, the Middle East, and even niche markets in Europe.
The rising exports show how Nepal’s food industry is adapting to changing global consumer preferences, where ready-to-eat and convenient products are in high demand. The success of noodles demonstrates the potential of processed food exports as a diversification strategy, especially as traditional products like woolen carpets, handicrafts, and tea continue to struggle in overseas markets.
However, to sustain this momentum, Nepal must address challenges like quality certification, branding, and competitive pricing. Building strong regional brands and improving logistics will be crucial to strengthening Nepal’s processed food exports.
