Over NPR 385 Million Collected in a Single Day for Rasuwa Flood Victims

Financial assistance continues to pour into the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by the devastating floods in Rasuwa. In a massive show of solidarity, over NPR 385.6 million (Rs 38.56 crore) was deposited into the fund by 27 different institutions and individuals in a single day on Friday.

The donations were officially handed over to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle during a program held at the Ministry of Finance. According to the ministry, the exact total collected on Friday alone stood at NPR 385,664,222.

Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. made the largest single contribution, providing NPR 150 million (Rs 15 crore). The banking and insurance sectors also stepped up significantly, with Prime Bank donating NPR 31 million, the Agricultural Development Bank providing NPR 30 million, and Nepal Life Insurance handing over NPR 25.1 million. Insurance companies like Asian Life and SuryaJyoti Life also contributed at least NPR 10 million each.

The corporate sector and private individuals demonstrated immense generosity. Industrialist Vijay Kumar Shah, Raji Rana, Syakar Trading (Padmaj ज्योति Group), WWF Nepal, Morang Auto Works, Jawalakhel Distillery, Himalayan Distillery, Alpha Automotive, and Solu Hydropower were among those who donated NPR 10 million (Rs 1 crore) or more.

Furthermore, over a dozen other entities—including Muktinath Bikas Bank, Lumbini Bikas Bank, the Nepal Cement Producers Association, and the Nepal Tea Development Corporation—handed over their respective contributions to Finance Minister Wagle. This overwhelming support from the private sector is expected to provide a major boost to the government's ongoing rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts in the disaster-hit region.
