Thailand Medical Treatment Visa for Nepali Patients — Hospital Tie-ups

For Nepali citizens seeking advanced healthcare services abroad, Thailand has become one of the most preferred medical destinations due to its world-class hospitals, affordable treatment packages, and specialized doctors. The Thailand Medical Treatment Visa, often categorized under the Non-Immigrant “O” Visa or Medical Tourist (MT) Visa, allows Nepali patients to enter Thailand for medical care, surgery, or long-term treatment. This visa also covers immediate family members or attendants who accompany the patient during treatment. Many Thai hospitals have official tie-ups with foreign visa facilitation companies and travel agencies, including Nepal-based partners like Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., to make the process smoother for patients and families.

Under this visa, patients can travel to Thailand for treatments such as cardiac surgery, organ transplant, orthopedics, fertility treatments (IVF), cancer care, dental surgery, and cosmetic or reconstructive procedures. Hospitals like Bumrungrad International, Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej, and Vejthani Hospital are among the top Thai healthcare centers with international patient departments dedicated to serving Nepali and South Asian patients. These hospitals issue invitation letters, treatment cost estimates, and appointment confirmations to help with the visa process through the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu or the Thailand e-Visa portal (www.thaievisa.go.th).

To apply for the Medical Treatment Visa, Nepali applicants must first contact a recognized Thai hospital and obtain a medical appointment or treatment confirmation letter. This letter must mention the patient’s full name, passport number, diagnosis, treatment details, estimated duration, and hospital contact information. Along with this, the applicant should prepare all medical records, laboratory reports, prescriptions, and recent diagnostic results in English. The hospital’s confirmation acts as an official sponsorship letter for the visa, which simplifies the approval process.

Other essential documents include a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), visa application form, two passport-size photographs (3.5 × 4.5 cm), bank statement of the last six months showing sufficient balance for treatment and accommodation (usually above NPR 500,000), flight booking proof, accommodation proof (hotel or hospital residence), and medical insurance (if available). Applicants must also provide financial guarantee documents such as salary slips, tax certificates, or property ownership proof if requested by the embassy. For those accompanied by relatives or caregivers, relationship certificates (marriage or birth certificates) are also required.

The visa fee for medical treatment is generally THB 2,000 for single entry and THB 5,000 for multiple entries, payable via Manager’s Cheque through Global IME Bank in Nepal in favor of “The Royal Thai Embassy, Kathmandu”. The standard processing time is 7 to 10 working days, but it can take longer if the embassy requests additional verification or hospital confirmation. The initial visa is usually valid for 60 or 90 days, and extensions can be granted within Thailand based on medical necessity, supported by the hospital’s recommendation and immigration approval.

Thailand’s major hospitals have international patient service desks that assist with visa extensions, medical reports for immigration, interpreter services, and travel coordination. Some hospitals even have dedicated South Asia desks to serve Nepali patients with translation and document help. These tie-ups make it easy for patients to get pre-arrival assistance, airport pickup, and post-surgery recovery support.

For seamless coordination and verified visa processing, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd. provides expert medical visa assistance in Nepal. The agency directly collaborates with accredited Thai hospitals to obtain appointment letters, process medical documentation, and handle embassy submissions. Their service ensures patients receive the right treatment at the right hospital without delays. For assistance, contact 9802348957 or 9708072951, or visit https://www.yatraforfun.com for consultation and hospital tie-up support.
