Understanding Short-Term General Visas (C-3-1) for South Korea from Nepal

The Short-Term General Visa (C-3-1) is one of the most common South Korean visa types applied for by Nepali citizens who intend to visit Korea temporarily for meetings, events, cultural programs, training, or non-official purposes. This visa allows a stay of up to 90 days and is designed for those visiting relatives, participating in conferences, attending short courses, or engaging in cultural, academic, or religious exchanges.

Applications for this visa are processed by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kathmandu, and all applicants must first book an appointment online through the official website https://koreanembassynepal.org. Appointment slots open every Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. (Nepal Standard Time). Applications are accepted at the Embassy from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while passport and visa collection take place from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Key Documents Required for the C-3-1 Visa

Documents from the Inviter in Korea:

  1. Invitation Letter (with registered corporate seal or notarization)

  2. Guarantee Letter (officially sealed or notarized)

  3. Business Registration Certificate or Institutional ID

  4. Event-Related Proofs (brochure, schedule, or invitation confirmation)

Documents from the Applicant in Nepal:

  1. Completed Visa Application Form with recent photo

  2. Original Passport (minimum six months validity) and a photocopy

  3. Visa Cover Letter explaining purpose and itinerary

  4. Confirmed Round-Trip Flight Ticket and Hotel Booking

  5. Job Certificate from Employer or Business Ownership Proof

  6. PAN and Company Registration Certificates (if applicable)

  7. Personal and Company Bank Statements (last six months)

  8. Proof of Financial Capacity (Balance Certificate, Assets Statement)

All Nepali-issued documents must be translated into English and notarized, while all Korean-issued documents must be original and issued within the last three months. Submitting fake or outdated documents may lead to visa rejection and a travel restriction of up to three years.

Visa Fee and Processing Time

As of January 1, 2025, the Single Entry (up to 90 days) visa fee is NPR 5,400, payable in cash at the Embassy counter. Visa processing usually takes around 21 working days, and applicants are advised to apply early.

Important Notes

  • Only Machine Readable Passports (MRP) are accepted.

  • Handwritten passports are not valid for visa applications.

  • Applicants must apply and collect their passports in person or via a legally authorized representative.

  • All submitted documents are subject to verification by the Embassy.
