Visit Switzerland: Easy Visa Application for Nepali Citizens

For Nepali citizens planning a visit to Switzerland, applying for a visa is a straightforward process that can be easily managed through VFS Global. Whether you're traveling for tourism, business, or family reasons, Switzerland offers various types of visas depending on your purpose of stay. Here’s a detailed guide to help you through the visa application process and ensure that your trip to Switzerland goes smoothly.

Step-by-Step Guide to Applying for a Switzerland Visa:

  1. Visa Application Form:
The first step in the process is to complete the visa application form. This form must be filled out with accurate details and signed. For minors under the age of 18, both parents must sign the application form, and additional documents like a birth certificate and parental consent letter will be required if the minor is traveling alone or with only one parent.

  2. Passport Requirements:
Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned stay in Switzerland. It should have been issued within the last 10 years and contain at least two blank pages for visa stamps. Along with the original passport, you will need to provide a clear photocopy of the passport’s personal data page. Additionally, if you have any previous Schengen visas or valid US/UK visas, include photocopies of those.

  3. Photographs:
You will need to provide two passport-sized photographs that meet the required specifications. The photos should not be older than six months and must have a white background, with a size of 35-40mm in width.

  4. Proof of Financial Status:
To show that you can financially support yourself during your stay in Switzerland, you will need to provide the necessary financial documents. These may include personal and business bank statements from the last 3 to 6 months, salary slips, or other proof of income. If you are a student or unemployed, financial support documents from your parents or legal guardians will be needed.

  5. Schengen Travel Medical Insurance:
All visa applicants are required to have Schengen Travel Medical Insurance that covers the entire duration of their stay in Switzerland. The insurance should provide a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros, covering medical emergencies, repatriation, and urgent medical care.

  6. Flight Reservation:
You will need to submit a round-trip flight reservation that shows your entry into Switzerland and return to Nepal. If you plan to travel within the Schengen area, you should also provide proof of intra-Schengen flights, train bookings, or car rental arrangements.

  7. Accommodation Proof:
Proof of accommodation is required, and this can be shown through a hotel reservation or a letter from the host in Switzerland if you are staying with someone. The confirmation should include the hotel’s name, contact information, and booking reference number.

  8. Travel Itinerary:
You need to submit a detailed travel itinerary that includes your planned activities, places you’ll visit, and accommodations. This helps the embassy understand the purpose of your visit and the schedule of your stay.

  9. Visa Fee:
The visa fee for adults is 90 Euros, while children between the ages of 6 and 12 are charged 45 Euros. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from the visa fee. Payments for the visa fee are made directly at the VFS Globalcenter during the application submission.

Processing Time:

The processing time for a Switzerland visa generally takes about 15 calendar days from the submission of the application. However, it can vary based on the volume of applications or the complexity of your case. To avoid any delays, it’s recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks before your intended travel date.

Additional Information:

The Swiss Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents or verify the authenticity of submitted documents. If any documents are found to be incomplete or false, your visa application may be rejected. It is always advisable to carry copies of the documents you submitted when traveling, as border authorities may request to check them upon your arrival.
