विश्व फुटबलका चर्चित स्ट्राइकर एर्लिङ हालान्डले आफ्नो पहिलो विश्वकपमै असाधारण प्रदर्शनलाई निरन्तरता दिँदा नर्वेले इतिहास रचेको छ । हालान्डको दुई गोलको मद्दतमा नर्वेले पाँच पटकको विश्व विजेता ब्राजिललाई २–१ ले पराजित गर्दै फिफा विश्वकप २०२६ को क्वाटरफाइनलमा स्थान सुरक्षित गरेको छ ।
चौथो पटक विश्वकप खेलिरहेको नर्वे पहिलो पटक प्रतियोगिताको अन्तिम आठमा पुग्न सफल भएको हो । उता ब्राजिल भने सन् १९९० यता पहिलो पटक अन्तिम १६ बाटै बाहिरिएको छ ।
अमेरिकाको न्युयोर्क–न्युजर्सी स्टेडियममा सोमबार भएको प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक खेलमा अधिकांश समय दबावमा राखिएको ब्राजिललाई हालान्डले दोस्रो हाफको अन्तिम ११ मिनेटमा लगातार दुई गोल गर्दै स्तब्ध पारे ।
खेलको ७९औँ मिनेटमा आन्द्रेस सेलड्रुपको पासमा हालान्डले हेडमार्फत पहिलो गोल गर्दै नर्वेलाई अग्रता दिलाए । त्यसपछि निर्धारित समय सकिनुअघि ९०औँ मिनेटमा पुनः सेलड्रुपकै पासमा उनले अर्को हेड गोल गर्दै अग्रता दोब्बर बनाए ।
ब्राजिलका लागि इन्जुरी समयको नवौँ मिनेटमा नेमारले पेनाल्टीमार्फत एक गोल फर्काए पनि त्यो हार टार्न पर्याप्त भएन ।
खेलको सुरुआतमै ब्राजिलसँग अग्रता लिने सुनौलो अवसर थियो । १४औँ मिनेटमा प्राप्त पेनाल्टीलाई ब्रुनो गुइमारेसले गोलमा परिणत गर्न सकेनन् । नर्वेका गोलरक्षक ओर्यान नायल्यान्डले उनको प्रहार उत्कृष्ट ढंगले बचाएका थिए ।
क्रिस्टोफर अयरले पेनाल्टी क्षेत्रभित्र फल गरेपछि भिडियो सहायक रेफ्री (भिएआर) को सहयोगमा ब्राजिलले पेनाल्टी पाएको थियो । तर उक्त अवसर खेर जाँदा ब्राजिल खेलभर दबावमा रह्यो । पछिल्लो चार दशकमा विश्वकपमा पेनाल्टी मिस गर्ने ब्राजिलका पहिलो खेलाडीका रूपमा पनि ब्रुनो दर्ज भएका छन् । यसअघि सन् १९८६ मा जिकोले फ्रान्सविरुद्ध पेनाल्टी चुकाएका थिए ।
दोस्रो हाफमा मैदान प्रवेश गरेका युवा स्ट्राइकर एन्ड्रिकले पनि ५९औँ मिनेटमा नर्वेका गोलरक्षकसँग एक्लाएक्लै भएको अवस्थामा गोल गर्ने अवसर गुमाएका थिए । अन्ततः त्यही अवसर गुमाउनु ब्राजिलका लागि महँगो साबित भयो ।
खेलभर नर्वेले उत्कृष्ट नियन्त्रण कायम राख्यो । उसले ६५ प्रतिशत बल पोसेसन आफ्नो पक्षमा राख्दा ब्राजिल ३५ प्रतिशतमा सीमित रह्यो । नर्वेले ९ पटक प्रहार गर्दा ५ सट लक्ष्यमा पुगेका थिए । ब्राजिलले भने १४ सट प्रहार गरे पनि चार सट मात्र लक्ष्यमा राख्न सफल भयो ।
