SpaceX Gears Up for Historic IPO, Targeting $75 Billion at $1.75 Trillion Valuation
Elon Musk's space technology company SpaceX is preparing to launch one of the largest initial public offerings in history next week, targeting $75 billion at a valuation of $1.75 trillion. The company plans to sell approximately 556 million shares at a target price of $135 per share, according to international media reports.
The shares being offered will represent less than five percent of the company's total ownership — a notably small float by conventional IPO standards. The roadshow is set to kick off on Thursday, with the company expected to file an updated prospectus including a formal price range on the same day. Reuters has also reported that SpaceX is exploring the possibility of reserving around 30 percent of the offering for retail investors, which would give everyday supporters and tech enthusiasts a rare chance to own a stake in the company.
Earlier this year, SpaceX's valuation stood at approximately $1.25 trillion following its acquisition of Musk's artificial intelligence venture xAI. The proposed valuation of $1.75 trillion represents a near 40 percent jump from that figure. Analysts note that the valuation is driven less by current revenues and more by the company's future potential — spanning its Starlink satellite internet service, reusable rocket technology and long-term ambitions to establish human settlements on Mars. The IPO is widely seen as a defining test for the US public markets, which have been relatively subdued in recent years.
