अविरल वर्षाका कारण सुरुङ (टनेल) मा प्राविधिक समस्या देखिएपछि पञ्चकन्या माई हाइड्रोपावर लिमिटेडद्वारा प्रवर्द्धित ९.९८ मेगावाट क्षमताको ‘अपर माई जलविद्युत् आयोजना’बाट विद्युत् उत्पादन पूर्ण रूपमा बन्द भएको छ। आयोजनाको टनेल आउटलेट क्षेत्रमा रहेका एक्सपान्सन जोइन्टबाट एक्कासि ठूलो मात्रामा पानी चुहिन थालेपछि कम्पनीले मर्मतको कारण देखाउँदै उत्पादन रोकेको हो।
कम्पनी व्यवस्थापनका अनुसार चुहावट रोक्न र एक्सपान्सन जोइन्ट मर्मत गर्नका लागि सुरुङभित्रको पानी पूर्ण रूपमा खाली गर्नुपर्ने प्राविधिक बाध्यता छ। सोही कारण गत भदौ २१ गते साँझ ६:१० बजेदेखि आयोजनाको मेसिन बन्द गरी बिजुली उत्पादन ठप्प पारिएको हो।
हाल मर्मतसम्भारको कामलाई अघि बढाइएको र उक्त प्राविधिक समस्या समाधान हुनासाथ जतिसक्दो चाँडो विद्युत् उत्पादन पुनः नियमित गरिने कम्पनीले स्पष्ट पारेको छ।
KATHMANDU — Electricity generation from the 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydropower Project, promoted by Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited, has been completely suspended due to technical issues in its tunnel system. The disruption occurred after heavy and continuous rainfall caused a massive water leakage from the expansion joints located at the project's tunnel outlet area.
According to the company's management, fixing the leak requires the entire tunnel to be completely drained of water. Citing this technical compulsion to repair the expansion joints, the project shut down its machinery and officially halted all power generation activities starting at 6:10 PM on September 7 (Bhadra 21).
The company has clarified that maintenance and repair works have already been initiated. It assured that normal electricity generation will resume as soon as the damaged expansion joints are fully repaired and the technical issues are resolved.
