Special Messages of the Board for Newly Entering Investors and Students Wishing to Invest in the Securities Market on the Occasion of World Investor Week 2026
• Develop a healthy financial habit of saving regularly from the beginning and making prudent investment decisions.
• Invest only after conducting proper study.
• When starting to invest in the securities market, begin with securities issued at face value in the primary market or mutual fund schemes.
• When starting to invest in the primary market, study the prospectus and offer document of the issuing company, analyze key aspects such as the company's promoters and management, financial status, and credit rating level, and invest only if deemed appropriate.
• Carefully analyze your return targets and risk-bearing capacity, and start investing with small savings.
• When investing in the secondary market of securities, make investment decisions based on your risk-bearing capacity by obtaining correct information.
• Invest only after studying the financial statements, performance status, price-sensitive information, future plans of the company, financial indicators mentioned in periodic and annual reports, price trends, and the status of the related industry/sector officially or verifiably published by the company.
• Beware of high-cost loans that can negatively impact your long-term financial position. Avoid investing with borrowed money as much as possible.
• Be cautious of materials produced using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for advertising in various online groups and highly publicized (viral) investment opportunities recommended by Finfluencers through social media.
Key Messages of the Board for Securities Market Investors on the Occasion of World Investor Week 2026
• Since the securities market can experience fluctuations from time to time, make investment decisions by being disciplined and prudent, based on realistic and appropriate information.
• When investing in the secondary market of securities, study key aspects such as the performance status officially or verifiably issued by the listed company, price-sensitive information that can affect the price of securities such as dividend announcements, right share announcements, changes in management, future plans, financial indicators mentioned in periodic and annual reports of the company, price trends of securities, decisions of the company's annual general meeting (minutes), and the status of the industry/sector related to the company.
• While investing, study the nature of the institution, potential returns the company can offer, past dividend history, and fundamental aspects of the company (such as financial statements, management, industry and business conditions, legal environment, business model, competitive advantage).
• Before investing in securities, invest with patience, diligence, and foresight, being clear about your investment objectives, time horizon, and expected income.
• Since the overall economic and political situation of the country has a direct impact on the securities market, remain vigilant about this when investing in securities.
• Understand the difference between investment information, financial advice, advertisements, and promotional materials.
• Since estimates and projections published and broadcasted through various social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, Clubhouse, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram) are not official, do not make investment decisions solely based on those estimates, projections, opinions, and advice.
• Be self-aware to avoid fraud, forgery, and deception that may occur through the mentioned social media, and make decisions independently using your own discretion.
• Use strong and different passwords for bank accounts, Demat accounts, and TMS accounts, and use Two-Factor Authentication wherever available.
• Be cautious of deepfakes, voice cloning, synthetic identities, and other AI-based scams prepared using AI, including publications and videos.
• Do not invest in securities by blindly copying others or following herd mentality.
• Research investment opportunities independently, do not rush into decisions, be cautious of promises guaranteeing excessive profits, and do not trust individuals who pressure you to make quick decisions.
• Since inflation, bank liquidity, and interest rates directly affect the securities market, make investment decisions by considering these factors.
• Manage risk by diversifying your investment to protect against risks and by maintaining an emergency fund.
• Stay away from activities such as insider trading, cornering, and unnatural fluctuations in prices that may occur in the securities market, and adopt necessary precautions regarding such activities.
• Conduct monetary transactions in securities trading only through banks. Obtain information about the legal provisions regarding the fees charged by securities brokers for securities trading.
• When trading in the securities market, trade only through securities businesspersons licensed by the Securities Board of Nepal.
• For official information regarding the securities market, financial market, insurance market, and related policies, rules, and directives, regularly visit the websites of CDSC, NEPSE, Securities Board of Nepal, Nepal Insurance Authority, Nepal Rastra Bank, and the Ministry of Finance.
• If you have any queries or grievances regarding investment in securities, contact the concerned securities businessperson, issuer, listed company, CDSC, NEPSE, or the Board.
