काठमाडौँ — दार्चुलाको चमेलिया नदीमा २८.३० मेगावाट क्षमताको मध्य चमेलिया जलविद्युत् आयोजना निर्माण हुने भएको छ। दार्चुला पावर कम्पनीले प्रवर्द्धन गर्ने आयोजना मार्मा गाउँपालिकास्थित अपी नाम्पा संरक्षण क्षेत्रभित्र निर्माण हुनेछ।
नदी प्रवाहमा आधारित आयोजनाले विद्युत् विकास विभागबाट उत्पादन अनुमतिपत्र प्राप्त गरिसकेको छ। आयोजनाको डिजाइन तथा संरचनाको स्थान परिवर्तनपछि पर्न सक्ने वातावरणीय असर अध्ययनका लागि सम्बन्धित मन्त्रालयले पूरक वातावरणीय प्रभाव मूल्याङ्कनसम्बन्धी प्रक्रिया अघि बढाएको छ।
नेपाल विद्युत् प्राधिकरण र प्रवर्द्धक कम्पनीबीच यसअघि नै विद्युत् खरिद–बिक्री सम्झौता भएको छ भने आयोजनाको वित्तीय व्यवस्थापन पनि सम्पन्न भइसकेको छ।
आयोजनाबाट वार्षिक १८५.६२ गिगावाट घण्टा विद्युत् उत्पादन गर्ने लक्ष्य छ। उत्पादित बिजुली बलाच सबस्टेसनमार्फत राष्ट्रिय प्रसारण प्रणालीमा जोडिनेछ।
आयोजनाको अनुमानित लागत ६ अर्ब २३ करोड रुपैयाँभन्दा बढी छ। निर्माण सुरु भएपछि तीन वर्षभित्र आयोजना सम्पन्न गर्ने लक्ष्य राखिएको छ।
Kathmandu — A 28.30-megawatt Mid-Chameliya Hydropower Project is set to be developed on the Chameliya River in Darchula district of Sudurpaschim Province.
The project, promoted by Darchula Power Company, will be built in Marma Rural Municipality within the Api Nampa Conservation Area. It is designed as a run-of-river hydropower project.
The project received its electricity generation licence from the Department of Electricity Development on March 26, 2025. Following changes in the project design and relocation of some structures, the government has initiated a supplementary Environmental Impact Assessment to examine possible environmental effects.
The original Environmental Impact Assessment report had already been approved, while consent for the supplementary study was granted later as changes were introduced in the project layout.
A Power Purchase Agreement between Nepal Electricity Authority and the developer has also been completed. The project has additionally secured financial closure, clearing another major requirement before construction.
The project is expected to generate around 185.62 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. Of this, about 118.52 gigawatt-hours is projected to be generated during the wet season and 67.10 gigawatt-hours during the dry season.
Electricity produced by the project will be evacuated through the Balach substation and connected to the national transmission system.
The project site lies around 30 kilometres northwest of Gokuleshwar. The 40 MW Upper Chameliya Hydropower Project is located upstream, while the 30 MW Chameliya Hydropower Project is already operating downstream.
The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 6.23 billion. The developer aims to complete construction within three years.
