Finance Minister Meets Financial Regulators, Emphasizes Stability and Investment Growth

Kathmandu — Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal held a meeting with the heads of key financial regulatory bodies on Tuesday, focusing on financial stability, investment promotion, and economic governance. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar.The meeting was attended by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Bishwanath Paudel, Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority Chandrakala Paudel, and Chairperson of the Securities Board of Nepal Santosh Narayan Shrestha. According to Ministry spokesperson Tanka Prasad Pandey, the discussion centered on strengthening the overall financial system and ensuring sustainable economic growth.During the meeting, Minister Khanal expressed appreciation for the role played by regulatory bodies in maintaining macroeconomic stability and creating a favorable investment environment. He acknowledged their efforts in enhancing transparency in the capital market and strengthening financial discipline across the sector.The Finance Minister also thanked the institutions for their contribution to improving economic governance and supporting policy implementation aimed at stabilizing the financial system.In response, the heads of the regulatory bodies described their collaboration with the Ministry of Finance as constructive and effective. They noted that the ministry’s policies and guidance have played a crucial role in reinforcing the stability of Nepal’s banking and financial sector.The discussion covered a wide range of issues, including maintaining stability in banks and financial institutions, boosting investment, enhancing transparency, and further developing Nepal’s capital market.Officials stated that such continued coordination between the government and regulatory authorities is essential for strengthening financial sector resilience and supporting long-term economic growth.
