इरान र अमेरिकाबीचको सैन्य तनाव पुनः बढेको छ। इरानले रणनीतिक रूपमा महत्त्वपूर्ण होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य अर्को सूचना नभएसम्म बन्द गरिएको जनाएको छ भने अमेरिकाले भने उक्त जलमार्ग खुला रहेको र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय जहाजको आवागमन सुरक्षित रहेको दाबी गरेको छ।
तनाव इरानले अनुमति नलिएको मार्ग प्रयोग गरेको आरोप लगाउँदै एक व्यावसायिक जहाजमाथि आक्रमण गरेपछि सुरु भएको हो। त्यसको जवाफमा अमेरिकाले इरानका मिसाइल केन्द्र, ड्रोन आधार र सैन्य पूर्वाधारलाई लक्षित गरी हवाई आक्रमण गरेको जनाएको छ।
अमेरिकी सेनाका अनुसार साइप्रसको झण्डा बोकेको एउटा व्यापारिक जहाजमाथि इरानको इस्लामिक रिभोलुसनरी गार्ड कर्प्स (आईआरजीसी) ले मिसाइल प्रहार गरेको थियो। आक्रमणपछि जहाजमा क्षति पुगेको र चालक दलका सदस्यलाई उद्धार गरिएको बताइएको छ।
जवाफी कारबाहीस्वरूप इरानले क्षेत्रका अमेरिकी तथा सहयोगी मुलुकका सैन्य आधारलाई लक्षित गरी मिसाइल र ड्रोन प्रहार गरेको दाबी गरेको छ। तर सम्बन्धित देशहरूले अधिकांश आक्रमण रोकिएको बताएका छन्।
होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य विश्वको प्रमुख ऊर्जा आपूर्ति मार्गमध्ये एक हो। यहाँ बढ्दो तनावले विश्वव्यापी तेल आपूर्ति, समुद्री व्यापार र मध्यपूर्वको सुरक्षा अवस्थाप्रति चिन्ता बढाएको छ।
यसबीच अमेरिका र इरानबीचको पछिल्लो युद्धविरामसमेत संकटमा परेको छ। दुवै पक्षले एक–अर्कामाथि सम्झौता उल्लङ्घन गरेको आरोप लगाइरहेका छन् भने कूटनीतिक संवादको सम्भावना भने अझै कायम रहेको बताइएको छ।
Military tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated once again. Iran has announced the closure of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz until further notice, while the US has rejected the claim, saying the waterway remains open and international shipping continues safely.
The latest confrontation began after Iran allegedly attacked a commercial vessel, accusing it of using an unauthorized route. In response, the United States said it carried out strikes on more than 140 Iranian military targets, including missile facilities, drone centers, communication networks and coastal surveillance systems.
According to the US Central Command, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a cruise missile attack on the Cyprus-flagged commercial vessel MV GFS Galaxy. The strike damaged the ship’s engine room, forcing crew members to evacuate by lifeboats, with one crew member reportedly still missing.
Following the US strikes, the IRGC claimed it launched retaliatory missile attacks on US military facilities in the region, including Jordan’s Prince Hassan Air Base. Iran also claimed attacks on targets in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, while those countries said most of the incoming attacks were intercepted.
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes, has become the centre of rising military tensions. Any prolonged disruption in the waterway could affect global oil supplies, maritime trade and security across the Middle East.
Meanwhile, uncertainty has grown over the recent ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US. Both sides have accused each other of violating the deal, although diplomatic efforts to resume talks are reportedly still continuing.
