काठमाडौं — रसुवाको भोटेकोशी नदीमा गत भदौ १० गते आएको भीषण बाढीका कारण ज्यान गुमाएका नागरिकहरूको स्मृतिमा आज मुलुकभर राष्ट्रिय शोक मनाइएको छ। गत भदौ १८ गते सिंहदरबारमा बसेको मन्त्रिपरिषद् बैठकको निर्णयानुसार आज नेपालभरका सम्पूर्ण सरकारी कार्यालयहरूका साथै विदेशस्थित नेपाली दूतावास र नियोगहरूमा राष्ट्रिय झन्डा आधा झुकाइएको छ।
प्रहरी प्रधान कार्यालयको पछिल्लो विवरण अनुसार यस विपद्मा परी हालसम्म १,३४२ जनाको शव फेला परिसकेको छ। प्राप्त शवहरूमध्ये ५३० जना पुरुष, ३२८ जना महिला रहेका छन् भने ४९५ वटा शव अत्यधिक क्षतविक्षत भई पहिचान गर्न नसकिने अवस्थामा छन्। पहिचान खुलेका र नखुलेका गरी फेला परेका शवमध्ये १,०४४ वटा शव सुरक्षित रूपमा जमिनमा गाडेर व्यवस्थापन गरिएको छ भने बाँकी शवहरूको सनाखत तथा व्यवस्थापन प्रक्रिया जारी छ।
बाढी प्रभावित क्षेत्रमा अझै ३,९९२ जना व्यक्तिहरू सम्पर्कविहीन रहेको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ। बेपत्ताहरूको खोजी, उद्धार र राहत वितरणका लागि नेपाल प्रहरी, नेपाली सेना र सशस्त्र प्रहरी बलका २१,४६५ भन्दा बढी सुरक्षाकर्मीहरू कठिन भूगोल र अवरुद्ध सडकका बाबजुद पनि सक्रिय रूपमा खटिएका छन्। राष्ट्रिय विपत् जोखिम न्यूनीकरण तथा व्यवस्थापन प्राधिकरणका अनुसार हालसम्म प्रभावित क्षेत्रबाट १३,३९९ जनाको सकुशल उद्धार गरिएको छ।
उद्धार गरिएका नागरिकहरूको तात्कालिक व्यवस्थापनका लागि रसुवा, नुवाकोट र धादिङमा विशेष होल्डिङ सेन्टरहरू सञ्चालन गरिएको छ, जहाँ अहिले ३,९१२ जना आश्रित छन्। प्रभावित क्षेत्रमा हालसम्म ६,०७३ जना घाइते तथा पीडितलाई स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रदान गरिएको छ। यसका साथै, बेपत्ताहरूको पहिचान र शवको सनाखत गर्न डिएनए परीक्षणलाई प्राथमिकता दिइएको छ भने हालसम्म २,३७६ जनाको डिएनए नमुना संकलन गरिसकिएको छ।
Kathmandu — The nation is observing a day of national mourning today in honor of the lives lost in the catastrophic floods that struck the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on August 27. In accordance with a Cabinet decision made at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar on September 4, the national flag is flying at half-mast across all government offices in Nepal as well as at Nepali embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.
According to the latest data released by the Police Headquarters, the bodies of 1,342 victims have been recovered so far. Among the identified bodies are 530 males and 328 females, while 495 bodies remain unrecognizable due to severe decomposition. Authorities have safely buried 1,044 of the recovered bodies, while the identification and management processes for the rest are ongoing.
The floods have left 3,992 individuals still missing. To address the crisis, a massive search, rescue, and relief operation involving 21,465 security personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force continues despite challenging terrain and blocked roads. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reports that 13,399 people have been successfully rescued from various affected areas, with military and private aircraft carrying out numerous evacuation flights.
For immediate assistance and management, holding centers have been set up in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, currently sheltering 3,912 displaced individuals. Medical teams have provided health services to 6,073 affected citizens. Furthermore, DNA testing has been prioritized to identify missing persons and verify unrecognised bodies, with DNA samples collected from 2,376 individuals, including victims' relatives.
