काठमाडौं — नेपाल दूरसञ्चार प्राधिकरणले फिफा विश्वकप सुरु भएयता अनलाइन सट्टेबाजी र अवैध वित्तीय कारोबारमा संलग्न २ लाख २३ हजार ५६८ वटा वेबसाइट तथा एप बन्द गरेको छ। विश्वकपको समयमा बेटिङ गतिविधि बढ्न सक्ने जोखिमलाई ध्यानमा राख्दै प्राधिकरणले निगरानी र कारबाही तीव्र बनाएको हो।
सरकारले गत चैत १३ गते सार्वजनिक गरेको शासकीय सुधारसम्बन्धी १०० कार्यसूचीको ४२औँ बुँदामा सट्टेबाजी एप र वेबसाइट २४ घण्टाभित्र बन्द गर्न निर्देशन दिएको थियो। त्यसपछि अधिकांश प्लेटफर्म बन्द भए पनि नयाँ डोमेन र नाममा पुनः सञ्चालन हुने क्रम रोकिएको छैन।
प्राधिकरणले विशेष टास्क फोर्स गठन गरी इन्टरनेट सेवा प्रदायक (आईएसपी)हरूसँग प्रत्यक्ष समन्वय गर्दै संदिग्ध वेबसाइट र एप तुरुन्तै ब्लक गर्ने व्यवस्था अघि बढाएको छ। आईएसपीका प्राविधिक प्रतिनिधि प्राधिकरणमै राखेर अनलाइन निगरानी गर्दै कारबाही गरिन्छ।
एक–एक वेबसाइट खोजेर बन्द गर्न कठिन भएकाले प्राधिकरणले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सूची र 'थ्रेट इन्टेलिजेन्स टुल' प्रयोग गरी लगातार नयाँ डोमेन र एप पहिचान गरी बन्द गर्दै आएको छ। यसका लागि अलग प्राविधिक जनशक्ति समेत परिचालन गरिएको छ।
प्राधिकरणले सर्वसाधारणलाई पनि अवैध वेबसाइट वा एपको जानकारी उपलब्ध गराउन गिटहबमार्फत रिपोर्टिङ प्लेटफर्म सञ्चालनमा ल्याएको छ। अनलाइन बेटिङ, साइबर ठगी र अवैध वित्तीय कारोबार नियन्त्रणका लागि निगरानी अभियान निरन्तर चलाइने प्राधिकरणले जनाएको छ।
Kathmandu — Since the start of the FIFA World Cup, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has blocked 223,568 websites and apps involved in online betting and illegal financial activities. The authority intensified monitoring and enforcement following concerns that betting activity could spike during the tournament.
The government, through its 100-point governance reform agenda announced on Chaitra 13, instructed the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to shut down betting platforms within 24 hours. While most platforms were closed, many have reappeared under new domains and names.
To address the challenge, the NTA formed a special task force and coordinated directly with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block suspicious websites and apps immediately. Technical representatives from ISPs are stationed at the NTA to assist with real-time monitoring and enforcement.
Since manually identifying each website is impractical, the NTA uses international lists and a “Threat Intelligence Tool” to detect and block new domains and apps continuously. Dedicated technical personnel have been deployed to maintain uninterrupted oversight.
The NTA has also set up a reporting platform via GitHub, allowing the public to provide information about illegal betting sites and financial platforms. The authority stated that surveillance and blocking campaigns against online betting, cyber fraud, and illegal financial activities will continue without pause.
