सरकारले १,०६३ मेगावाट क्षमताको अपर अरुण जलविद्युत् आयोजना विदेशी नेपालीकाे लगानीमा निर्माण गर्ने तयारी अघि बढाएको छ। ऊर्जा तथा जलस्रोत मन्त्री कुलमान घिसिङका अनुसार विदेशमा बस्ने नेपालीलाई शेयर उपलब्ध गराई ‘रेमिट–पावर मोडल’ मार्फत पूँजी उठाउने तयारी अन्तिम चरणमा पुगेको छ।
घिसिङले भने, “देश–विदेशका नेपालीको लगानीमा आयोजना बनाउने हाम्रो लक्ष्य हो।” परियोजनाले स्वदेशी लगानी, दातृ निकायको सहुलियतपूर्ण ऋण र विदेशी रेमिट्यान्समार्फत शेयर बिक्री गरी आवश्यक पूँजी जुटाउनेछ।
करिब २ खर्ब ३० अर्ब रुपैयाँ लागत अनुमान गरिएको आयोजना अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय फाइनान्सिङ क्लोजर नजिकिँदैछ। जग्गा प्राप्ति र वातावरणीय प्रभाव मूल्यांकन (EIA) सहितका काम पूरा भइसकेका छन्। संखुवासभामा बन्ने परियोजना ६ वर्षभित्र सम्पन्न गर्ने लक्ष्य राखिएको छ।
Nepal is set to build the 1,063 MW Upper Arun Hydropower Project through investments collected from Nepalis living abroad, marking a bold “Remit-Power Financing Model.”
Energy Minister Kulman Ghising said that the government plans to offer shares to Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) and migrant workers who regularly send remittances to Nepal. “We aim to build this project with the investment of Nepalis worldwide,” he said.
The financing modality has reached its final stage, with the project moving toward financial closure soon. The estimated cost is Rs 230 billion, to be raised through domestic investment, concessional loans, and share offerings to Nepalis abroad.
Located in Sankhuwasabha, the project has completed land acquisition and EIA works, with a completion target of within six years once construction begins.
