Hong Kong Tourist Visa for Nepalese Passport Holders — Processing Time & Fees (2025 Guide)

Nepalese passport holders are required to obtain a visa or entry permit before traveling to Hong Kong, as Nepal is not among the 170 visa-exempt countries permitted to enter the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) without a visa. For tourism, short visits, or transit purposes, applicants must apply for a Hong Kong Visit Visa (Tourist Visa) through the Hong Kong Immigration Department. The department now accepts online submissions, making the process easier and faster for Nepali citizens both in Nepal and abroad.

The application procedure starts by completing Form ID 1003A (for the applicant) and Form ID 1003B (if a local sponsor in Hong Kong is involved). These forms can be downloaded from the official Immigration Department website. Applicants must prepare clear scanned copies of all essential documents including a valid passport (minimum six months validity), passport-sized photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statement or proof of financial support, and, if applicable, invitation letters for business or family visits.

Once the online submission is complete, the original signed forms and photographs must be sent by air mail to the Immigration Department’s office at 61 Po Yap Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong. Applications sent by email are not accepted. The Hong Kong Immigration Department processes visa applications on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that applicants have genuine travel purposes and sufficient funds to cover their stay.

The processing time for Hong Kong tourist visas for Nepali citizens usually ranges between 2 to 4 weeks after the department receives the original documents. However, the timeline may vary depending on application accuracy, volume, and travel period. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least one month before their intended travel date to avoid last-minute delays.

The visa fees for Hong Kong tourist visas typically range between HKD 250, HKD 400, and HKD 1,000 depending on the visa type — single, double, or multiple entries, and the duration (15, 30, or 90 days). Payment can be made through online platforms or bank drafts as per the department’s guidelines.

Once approved, applicants receive an eVisa (electronic visa) that can be downloaded and printed directly from the Immigration Department’s online portal. This eVisa must be presented upon arrival at the Hong Kong International Airport. A standard tourist visa allows a stay of 14 to 30 days within a validity period of up to 3 months.

Nepali citizens traveling to Hong Kong are advised to respect the visitor regulations. Tourists may attend sightseeing activities, family visits, or short-term business meetings but are not allowed to take up employment, sell products, or provide services during their stay. Overstaying or violating visa conditions can result in penalties up to HKD 50,000and imprisonment for up to 2 years.

If you want a hassle-free visa experience, you can take assistance from Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., Nepal’s leading travel and visa processing company.
