How to Extend Your Hong Kong Visit Visa Online — Step-by-Step for Nepalese

Nepali citizens can extend their Hong Kong visit visa online through the official Immigration Department portal within 14 days before visa expiry. Applicants must be in Hong Kong during submission, fill in the online form, upload passport and financial documents, pay online, and download the new e-Visa upon approval. How to Extend Your Hong Kong Visit Visa Online — Step-by-Step for Nepalese

For Nepali citizens currently visiting Hong Kong on a short-term tourist or business visa, it is possible to extend your stay online through the Hong Kong Immigration Department’s official e-Visa portal. As of 2025, the extension process has become faster and completely digital, allowing foreign visitors — including Nepali nationals — to apply for an additional stay period without visiting the Immigration Office in person. However, several rules and steps must be followed carefully to avoid overstaying or rejection.

To begin with, you must be physically present in Hong Kong when submitting the application. The Immigration Department does not accept visa extension requests from abroad. You can only apply for an extension within 14 days of the expiry of your current stay limit — meaning, if your visa is expiring soon, you should file the online request before it ends. Once the stay limit expires, you will be considered an overstayer and may face penalties under the Immigration Ordinance (Cap.115).

To apply, visit the official Hong Kong Immigration Department website (www.immd.gov.hk) and select the section titled “Extension of Stay (for Visitors)”. You must complete an online application form that includes your passport details, visa/entry permit number, reason for extension, current address in Hong Kong, and future travel plans. For Nepali visitors, valid reasons for extension may include ongoing tourism, family visits, health concerns, or unavoidable flight delays.

After filling out the online form, upload all required supporting documents. These typically include your valid passport (with at least six months’ validity), current e-Visa or entry permit, proof of sufficient funds (bank statements or credit balance), return or onward flight ticket, and hotel booking confirmation. If your reason for extension is medical or family-related, you may also attach relevant letters or certificates.

Once all information is verified, proceed to the online payment section, where you can pay the visa extension fee via credit card, PPS, FPS, or digital wallet. The processing time for most visitor visa extensions is one to two working days. When approved, you will receive an email notification with a link to download your updated e-Visa / Extension Permit. Print this document and keep it with your passport at all times.

It is important to note that extension approval is not guaranteed. The Immigration Department evaluates each application individually based on travel history, financial stability, and purpose of stay. Therefore, submitting genuine information and complete documents increases the chance of approval. If the application is denied, the visitor must leave Hong Kong before the original visa expires.

To avoid complications or errors, Nepali citizens can use the support services of Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., a trusted visa and travel service company in Nepal that assists with Hong Kong visa extensions, visit visa applications, and entry permit renewals. The company provides document verification, application guidance, and communication with the Hong Kong Immigration Department. It also supports Nepali citizens living abroad — such as in Australia, Japan, and Europe — who wish to process their extensions online through remote coordination.
