Japan Tourist Visa Requirements for Nepalese Travelers

In 2025, Japan remains one of the most popular destinations among Nepali travelers, offering a perfect blend of modern innovation, cultural depth, and natural beauty. However, before booking your flight to Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto, you must meet all the Japan Tourist Visa requirements. Since Nepalese citizens are not eligible for visa-free entry into Japan, a Short-Term Stay (Tourism) Visa is mandatory. This visa allows you to stay in Japan for up to 90 days for tourism, leisure, or to visit friends and family. All tourist visa applications from Nepal must be submitted through VFS Global Japan Visa Application Centre, Kathmandu, under the guidance of the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.

The first requirement is a valid passport — it should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and contain at least one blank visa page. You must also complete the official Japan visa application form, downloadable from the VFS Global Japan Visa Nepal website. Attach a passport-sized color photograph (45mm × 35mm) with a white background, taken within the last six months, showing your full face and neutral expression.

Applicants must provide flight booking details (round trip or itinerary showing entry and exit), hotel or accommodation confirmation, and a day-by-day travel itinerary matching their bookings. The itinerary should clearly show the cities you plan to visit, duration of stay in each, and transportation methods. You must also submit proof of sufficient financial means, such as bank statements from the last 3–6 months, tax certificates, salary slips, or business registration documents. If a family member or friend is sponsoring your trip, their financial proof and a signed sponsorship letter must be attached.

Additionally, submit copies of your passport bio-page, an employment certificate (if employed), and property documents (if applicable). All documents must be arranged neatly in A4 size, without staples or clips. If your documents are in Nepali, they should be translated into English. The visa fee for a single entry is approximately NPR 2,680, and a service charge (around NPR 2,000) is payable to VFS Global. Both fees are non-refundable once the application is processed. The processing time usually takes about 6 working days, but it can take longer if further verification is needed. Once approved, your visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, and you can stay in Japan for up to 90 days per visit.

To improve your chances of approval, ensure all your information — passport details, flight and hotel bookings, financial documents — are accurate and consistent. Never submit fake or incomplete documents, as the Japanese Embassy strictly verifies every file. Apply well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons like cherry blossom (March–April) or autumn foliage (October–November).

Ltd. is among Nepal’s top-rated and most trusted visa and travel assistance companies, offering complete Japan visa support, document verification, itinerary planning, flight and hotel booking, and visa processing help for more than 70 countries worldwide, including Japan, Thailand, China, Singapore, Indonesia, and UAE.
