वैदेशिक व्यापार बढ्दा पनि घाटा अझै उच्चForeign Trade Surges in First Month of FY 2082/83, But Trade Deficit Still High
आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ को पहिलो महिनामा नै नेपालले एक खर्ब ६६ अर्बभन्दा बढीको वैदेशिक व्यापार गरेको छ। भन्सार विभागले शुक्रबार सार्वजनिक गरेको तथ्यांक अनुसार चालु वर्षको साउन महिनामा वैदेशिक व्यापार अघिल्लो वर्षको तुलनामा १८.७५ प्रतिशतले वृद्धि भएको हो।
तथ्यांक अनुसार यस अवधिमा एक खर्ब ४३ अर्ब ४ करोड रुपैयाँ बराबरको वस्तु आयात भएको छ भने निर्यात २३ अर्ब ९३ करोड २४ लाख रुपैयाँ बराबरको मात्र भएको छ। अघिल्लो वर्षको यही महिनामा आयात १ खर्ब २८ अर्ब ३७ करोड रुपैयाँ र निर्यात १२ अर्ब २२ करोड ६१ लाख रुपैयाँ मात्र रहेको थियो। यसरी हेर्दा निर्यातमा ९५.७५ प्रतिशतले उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि भए पनि आयातमा पनि ११.४२ प्रतिशतले वृद्धि भएको छ।
समीक्षा अवधिमा नेपालको कुल व्यापार एक खर्ब ६६ अर्ब ९७ करोड ३१ लाख रुपैयाँ पुगेको छ। तर, व्यापार घाटा भने अझै उच्च रहेको छ। साउन महिनामै नेपालले एक खर्ब १९ अर्ब १० करोड ८२ लाख रुपैयाँ बराबरको घाटा व्यहोर्नुपरेको छ। अघिल्लो वर्षको यही महिनामा एक खर्ब १६ अर्ब रुपैयाँ घाटा भएकोमा यस वर्ष २.५५ प्रतिशतले बढेको हो।
भन्सार विभागका अनुसार चालु वर्षको पहिलो महिनामा आयात–निर्यात अनुपात ५.९८ प्रतिशत मात्र रहेको छ। कुल व्यापारमा आयातको हिस्सा ८५.६७ प्रतिशत पुगेको छ भने निर्यातको हिस्सा १४.३३ प्रतिशतमा सीमित छ।
विशेषज्ञहरुका अनुसार निर्यात बढेको सकारात्मक पक्ष भए पनि आयातको भारी परिमाणका कारण नेपालले व्यापार घाटामा सुधार गर्न अझै चुनौती सामना गर्नुपर्ने देखिन्छ।
Nepal recorded foreign trade worth over NPR 166 billion in just the first month of the current fiscal year 2082/83. According to the data published by the Department of Customs on Friday, foreign trade in the month of Shrawan alone increased by 18.75 percent compared to the same period last year.
During the review period, Nepal imported goods worth NPR 143.04 billion, while exports stood at only NPR 23.93 billion. In the same month last year, imports were NPR 128.37 billion, and exports were NPR 12.22 billion. This shows imports rose by 11.42 percent, while exports saw a remarkable rise of 95.75 percent year-on-year.
Despite the surge in exports, Nepal’s trade deficit remains high. In the first month alone, the country suffered a trade deficit of NPR 119.10 billion, compared to NPR 116 billion in the same month last year — an increase of 2.55 percent.
According to the Department of Customs, the import–export ratio during the review month stood at 5.98 percent. Imports accounted for 85.67 percent of total trade, while exports made up only 14.33 percent.
Experts note that while the sharp rise in exports is a positive development, Nepal still faces a serious challenge in reducing its massive trade deficit due to the overwhelming share of imports.
