सुनचाँदी व्यवसायी तथा कालिगढहरूले सुनमा लगाइएको २% विलासिता कर र हिरा-जवाहरत पत्थरमा लगाइएको १३% भ्याट खारेज गर्न माग गरेका छन्।
नेपाल सुनचाँदी व्यवसायी तथा कालिगढ संघर्ष समितिको नेतृत्व गर्दै संयोजक विपिन रामुदामको टोलीले बुधबार अर्थमन्त्री विष्णुप्रसाद पौडेलसँग भेट गरी उक्त करप्रति आपत्ति जनाउँदै खारेजीको माग राखेको हो।
आगामी आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ का लागि अर्थमन्त्री पौडेलले बजेट भाषणमार्फत सुनमा दुई प्रतिशत विलासिता कर र हिरा-जवाहरत पत्थरमा १३ प्रतिशत मूल्य अभिवृद्धि कर (भ्याट) लगाउने घोषणा गरेका थिए।
व्यवसायीहरूको तर्फबाट प्रस्तुत गरिएको ज्ञापनमा उक्त निर्णयले व्यवसायमा गम्भीर असर परेको, व्यापार सन्कुचित हुने खतरा बढेको र कालोबजारी प्रोत्साहन हुने भन्दै सरकारलाई पुनर्विचार गर्न आग्रह गरिएको छ।
संयोजक रामुदामका अनुसार, यस निर्णयले आम व्यवसायी र कालिगढहरू समस्यामा परेकाले तत्काल कर खारेज गरिनुपर्ने आवश्यकता छ।
Gold and silver traders have requested Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel to withdraw the recently imposed 2% luxury tax on gold and 13% VAT on diamonds and gemstones.
A delegation led by Bipin Ramudam, coordinator of the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders and Artisans Struggle Committee, met with Minister Paudel to express their concerns and submit a formal demand for the removal of the taxes.
In the budget speech for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, Finance Minister Paudel announced the imposition of a 2% luxury tax on gold and a 13% value-added tax (VAT) on diamonds and precious stones.
The delegation informed the minister that the announcement has created serious challenges for traders and artisans, warning that the taxes could shrink the market and promote black market activities.
Coordinator Ramudam emphasized that the imposed taxes are negatively impacting small traders and artisans, and urged the government to revoke the decision immediately.
