इमरान खान र बुशरा बीबीलाई १७ वर्ष जेल सजायImran Khan, Bushra Bibi Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison
इस्लामाबाद । पाकिस्तानको संघीय अनुसन्धान एजेन्सी (एफआईए) अन्तर्गतको विशेष अदालतले शनिबार पाकिस्तानका पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री इमरान खान र उनकी पत्नी बुशरा बीबीलाई १७–१७ वर्षको जेल सजाय सुनाएको छ। अदालतले दुवैलाई जरिवाना पनि तोकेको छ।
अदालतको आदेशको प्रतिलिपि उद्धृत गर्दै पाकिस्तानी सञ्चारमाध्यम डन ले जनाएअनुसार इमरान खान र बुशरा बीबीलाई जनही एक करोड ६४ लाख रुपैयाँ जरिवाना गरिएको छ। कानुनअनुसार तोकिएको जरिवाना तिर्न असफल भएमा थप जेल सजाय भोग्नुपर्ने व्यवस्था गरिएको छ।
रावलपिन्डीस्थित अडियाला जेलमा सम्पन्न सुनुवाइका क्रममा विशेष न्यायाधीश सेन्ट्रल शाहरुख अर्जुमन्दले फैसला सुनाएका हुन्। अदालत परिसरमै रहेको जेलमा सुरक्षा व्यवस्था कडा पारिएको थियो।
फैसलाअनुसार इमरान खानलाई पाकिस्तान दण्ड संहिताको धारा ३४ (साझा इरादा) र ४०९ (आपराधिक विश्वासघात) अन्तर्गत १० वर्षको सश्रम कारावास र भ्रष्टाचार निवारण ऐनको धारा ५(२) अन्तर्गत थप सात वर्षको सश्रम कारावास सुनाइएको छ। उनकी पत्नी बुशरा बीबीलाई पनि सोही कानुनी प्रावधानअनुसार कुल १७ वर्षको जेल सजाय तोकिएको छ।
यसअघि अक्टोबरमा इमरान खान र बुशरा बीबीले अदालतमा सबै आरोप अस्वीकार गरेका थिए। उनीहरूले आफूविरुद्धको मुद्दा राजनीतिक प्रतिशोधका रूपमा अघि बढाइएको दाबी गर्दै यसलाई आफूलाई राजनीतिबाट अलग्याउने षड्यन्त्र भनेका थिए।
डन का अनुसार इमरान खानले प्रधानमन्त्रीका रूपमा लिएका निर्णयहरू नीति र कानुनी प्रक्रियाअनुसार गरिएको, प्रधानमन्त्री कार्यालयको प्रोटोकल खण्डमा सम्पूर्ण विवरण दर्ता गरिएको तथा मूल्याङ्कनपछि राष्ट्रिय कोषमा भुक्तानी जम्मा गरिएकाले कुनै गैरकानुनी काम नभएको दाबी गरेका छन्।
Islamabad. A special court of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years in prison each.
Quoting a copy of the court order, Dawn reported that both have also been fined PKR 16.4 million each. Under the law, failure to pay the fine will result in additional imprisonment.
The verdict was delivered during proceedings held inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand announced the decision amid tight security arrangements.
According to the ruling, Imran Khan was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under sections 34 (common intention) and 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with an additional seven years under section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with criminal misconduct by public officials. Bushra Bibi received the same cumulative sentence under the same legal provisions.
Earlier in October, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had rejected all charges, describing the case as politically motivated and aimed at disqualifying the former prime minister from politics.
As reported by Dawn, Imran Khan maintained that all actions were carried out in accordance with established policy and due process, arguing that the matter was properly recorded, assessed, and any payments involved were deposited into the national treasury in line with legal requirements.
